Delivering IT solutions across networking, cloud, communications and cyber security, Comwire IT is seeking an experienced project delivery professional to take ownership of its client project portfolio and develop its project engineering team.
Reporting to the Head of Operations & People, this role combines project delivery, people leadership and commercial responsibility.
With the autonomy to shape how Comwire IT delivers for its clients, you will work closely with Pre-Sales and Client Services to establish clear scopes, align resources with commitments and ensure projects are completed within agreed timelines and budgets.
The Projects Leader will oversee project delivery across the business, managing scope, scheduling, resourcing and financial performance.
Alongside day-to-day delivery, you will strengthen project frameworks, improve systems and reporting, and develop the engineering team's capability.
Key responsibilities include
- Oversee the client project portfolio, maintaining accountability for scope, budgets, resources and delivery schedules.
- Allocate project work across the engineering team, balancing client deadlines, technical capability and sustainable workloads.
- Work with Pre-Sales to validate project scopes, identify risks and provide realistic resourcing and delivery estimates.
- Manage variations, securing written client approval and agreed pricing before additional work proceeds.
- Act as the escalation point for project delivery matters, working with engineers, Client Services and clients to resolve issues.
- Develop the project engineering team through regular one-to-ones, performance reviews, training and mentoring.
- Improve project templates, workflows and reporting in Halo PSA to support consistent and efficient delivery.
- Monitor project budgets, investigate overruns and use completed project data to improve future estimates.
- Provide senior management with clear reporting on project performance, resource capacity and upcoming requirements.
You will have at least five years' experience managing IT projects, including a minimum of two years within a managed service provider or systems integrator.
Previous responsibility for leading technical staff is essential, including allocating work, developing capability and managing performance.
Strong commercial judgement and resource planning skills will be important.
You will be comfortable reviewing estimates, managing scope and variations, and addressing delivery risks early.
Clear communication and a practical approach will help you build confidence with clients and work effectively across technical and commercial teams.
You will have a working knowledge of networking, Microsoft 365 and Azure, virtualisation, backup and disaster recovery, voice and cyber security.
This technical understanding will enable you to assess risks, challenge scope and engage credibly with engineers, vendors and clients.
Experience with Halo PSA, Connect Wise, Autotask or a similar platform is required, alongside confident use of Microsoft 365.
PRINCE2, PMP or AIPM Reg PM certification will be valued.
A current Australian driver's licence and full working rights in Australia are essential.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an established project delivery function, with the mandate to improve how work is planned, resourced and delivered.
You will have direct influence over project outcomes, team development and the systems that support client service, within a business that values transparency, approachability, accountability and inclusion.
