Ready to take the next step in your dental career? Are you an experienced dental receptionist and dental assistant who enjoys being hands‑on but knows you're capable of more? Maybe you're already the person your team turns to when things need organising, problems need solving or the day isn't running quite to plan. At Teeth On O'Hea, we're looking for someone who brings experience, initiative and a genuine interest in growing into a leadership position.
This is a full‑time, dual‑skilled role combining dental reception and chairside assisting, with a clear opportunity to progress into our Front Office Coordinator position. Our goal is to develop the right person into this role over the next 6-12 months, depending on their experience, performance and readiness. If you're already experienced in practice coordination, we'd also love to hear from you.
About Teeth On O'Hea: We're an established dental practice in Coburg with a friendly, supportive team and a strong focus on patient care. We believe a great dental practice relies on more than excellent clinicians. It needs organised systems, good communication and people who genuinely care about making each day run smoothly. We're looking for someone who shares those values and wants to build a long‑term career with us.
What You'll Be Doing: Initially, you'll work across both reception and dental assisting, building your understanding of the practice and becoming a trusted member of the team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing patient appointments, enquiries, bookings and follow‑ups
- Supporting dentists and oral health practitioners with chairside assisting
- Maintaining excellent patient service and communication
- Helping manage appointment books, cancellations and recalls
- Supporting sterilisation, infection control and clinical preparation
- Assisting with daily practice organisation, stock management and laboratory coordination
- Working closely with the team to keep the practice running efficiently
Where This Role Can Take You: As you develop, you'll have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and work towards becoming our Front Office Coordinator. This would involve:
- Taking greater ownership of appointment book management and ensuring schedules are well utilised
- Coordinating daily front office activities and supporting the wider team
- Assisting with staff rostering and daily workflow planning
- Supporting and guiding reception and dental assisting staff
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and patient experience
- Working closely with the Practice Manager to keep the clinic organised and running smoothly
We'll provide guidance, training and support as you build your confidence and capability.
Who We're Looking For: We're looking for someone with the experience to contribute from the beginning and the attitude to grow with us. You'll ideally have:
- Experience in dental reception and dental assisting
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence managing appointment books and communicating with patients
- A positive, proactive approach to problem‑solving
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with different personalities
- A willingness to take responsibility, show initiative and support others
- An interest in developing your leadership and practice coordination skills
Previous leadership experience is welcome but not essential. We're just as interested in finding someone with the right attitude, initiative and potential.
What You'll Get in Return: A stable, full‑time position in an established Coburg dental practice, a genuine opportunity to progress into a Front Office Coordinator role, structured onboarding, training and ongoing support, the opportunity to develop both clinical and administrative skills, a friendly, respectful and supportive team environment, greater responsibility and professional development as you grow, a workplace where your ideas, initiative and contribution are valued.
