In-House Legal Counsel (Commercial Leasing & Litigation)

Join a leading property owner and investment group and play a key role supporting a high-quality commercial and retail portfolio.

This is an opportunity for a commercially astute lawyer looking to move beyond private practice or further develop their in-house career within a fast-paced property environment.

Working directly with senior leadership and operational stakeholders, you'll provide practical legal advice across leasing, contracts, compliance and property-related matters, becoming a trusted advisor to the business.

The Role Your focus will include:

  • Drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial and retail leases
  • Preparing lease renewals, assignments, surrenders, licences and variations
  • Advising on leasing strategy and day-to-day property matters
  • Reviewing supplier, contractor and service agreements
  • Providing legal support to property, finance, facilities and executive teams
  • Managing legal compliance and governance requirements
  • Coordinating external legal advisers where required
  • Assisting with disputes, risk management and legal projects across the portfolio

About You To be successful, you will have:

  • Current unrestricted NSW Practising Certificate (essential)
  • Approximately 5–6 years' experience in commercial property and leasing law
  • Strong exposure to commercial and/or retail leasing transactions
  • Experience gained within a property owner, landlord-side, real estate, property management or in-house environment
  • Working knowledge of PEXA
  • Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work autonomously

Why This Opportunity?

  • High-profile commercial and retail property portfolio
  • Genuine in-house role with broad commercial exposure
  • Direct access to senior decision makers
  • Opportunity to influence business outcomes, not just provide legal advice
  • Stable and growing property platform
  • Sydney CBD offices
  • Full-time office-based role (5 days per week)

If you're looking for a role where you can combine strong leasing expertise with commercial influence and become an integral part of a successful property business, we'd love to hear from you.
