Automatic Door, Gate and Roller Shutter Technician
Talbot Automatic Doors and Gates Queensland – Northgate QLD
Join a growing business where your contribution really matters...
Talbot Auto Doors & Gates is expanding across Southeast Queensland, and we're looking for a motivated, technically capable and customer-focused Service Technician to join our growing team. With over 40 years of industry experience, Talbot is an established, family-owned Australian business specialising in the installation, servicing and repair of automatic doors, gates and commercial roller shutters.
Our Queensland business continues to grow, and we're looking for someone who wants more than just another job. If you take pride in your workmanship, enjoy solving problems and want to be part of a business where your contribution is genuinely valued, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
Take ownership and make the role yours!
As a Service Technician, you'll be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining and repairing automatic doors, gates and commercial roller shutters across the greater Brisbane and Gold Coast region.
Automatic sliding and swing doors are our core business, but if you enjoy variety, you'll find plenty of it at Talbot. No two days are the same!
You'll work across a diverse range of commercial and industrial sites, diagnosing faults, completing repairs, carrying out preventative maintenance and installing new equipment.
You’ll also play an important role in developing strong relationships with our customers and helping us continue to build our reputation as a trusted service provider.
This is a hands‑on role offering independence, variety and the support of an experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
Installing, servicing, maintaining and repairing automatic doors, gates and commercial roller shutters.
Identify faults, troubleshoot issues and carry out repairs with the support of our experienced team.
Performing scheduled preventative maintenance and identifying potential equipment failures.
Providing practical, reliable solutions to customers.
Building positive relationships through professional communication and quality service.
Completing accurate service reports and job documentation using our software platform.
Identifying opportunities for repairs, upgrades and equipment improvements.
Ensuring all work is carried out safely and to a high professional standard.
About you
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical ability with a positive attitude, initiative and a genuine commitment to customer service. Ideally, you'll bring:
Previous experience working with automatic doors, gates or roller shutters, or a strong technical background in a related service industry.
Approximately 2–3 years or more of relevant hands‑on technical experience.
Sound mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills.
The ability to diagnose problems, think logically and develop practical solutions.
Confidence working independently and taking responsibility for your work.
Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
A current Australian driver’s licence and the legal right to work in Australia.
An electrical trade qualification would be highly regarded but is not essential.
We also welcome applications from technicians with transferable skills in electrical, mechanical, automation or industrial equipment servicing. While industry experience is valuable, we recognise that technical skills can be developed. We’re equally interested in people who demonstrate initiative, a willingness to learn and pride in their workmanship.
What we offer...
We understand that attracting and retaining great people means providing more than just a competitive salary. At Talbot, you’ll enjoy:
Excellent remuneration: Base salary from $100,000 per annum, negotiable based on experience, plus 12% superannuation and paid overtime.
Company vehicle and fuel card provided for your role.
Job security with an established Australian business and growing Queensland customer base.
Variety across industries, customer sites and automated access systems.
Comprehensive product training, technical support and ongoing professional development.
Autonomy to take ownership of your work and develop customer relationships.
Supportive culture with a friendly, experienced team in a family-owned business.
Career progression and opportunities to develop leadership and management skills.
Work‑life balance and a business that recognises the importance of flexibility.
An Opportunity to Build Your Future...
For the right person with ambition and an entrepreneurial mindset, Talbot also offers the potential for longer‑term career progression, including the opportunity to explore franchise business ownership as our network continues to grow.
