Sydney Tools is a major national retailer with a construction arm delivering a broad range of building projects. From retail developments and commercial fit-outs to refurbishments, maintenance and upgrades, our team manages the work that brings these spaces to life.

We’re looking for a practical, motivated Project Manager to join the team and help deliver projects from the early planning stages through to completion.

About the Role:

This role combines project management and coordination with regular, hands-on involvement on-site. You’ll work with architects and consultants on preliminary designs, DA plans and construction documentation, then coordinate the contractors, trades and suppliers delivering the work. This is not a purely office-based role. Alongside planning and coordination at head office, you’ll attend project sites, monitor progress, resolve issues and work directly with site teams to keep construction moving safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage projects from start to finish, covering planning, design coordination, procurement, construction and handover.
  • Coordinate early-stage planning, working with architects and consultants on preliminary designs, development application (DA) plans, approvals and construction documentation.
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings, plans and scopes, identifying gaps or potential issues before they affect work on-site.
  • Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, trades and suppliers, ensuring work is properly planned and sequenced.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets and procurement, keeping stakeholders informed of progress, costs and changes.
  • Attend sites regularly to monitor progress, workmanship, quality and safety, and resolve practical issues as they arise.
  • Manage requests for information (RFIs), variations, defects and handovers, maintaining clear documentation through to project completion.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years’ experience in construction project management or a closely related role, with practical responsibility for coordinating projects and site activities.
  • Experience working with DA plans, preliminary designs and architectural drawings, including involvement in the pre-construction stage.
  • A sound understanding of construction methods, sequencing, trades and day-to-day site operations.
  • Confidence working directly with architects, consultants, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on commitments.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to get involved on-site.
  • A current Australian driver’s licence and reliable transport.
  • Experience with duplexes, residential developments, retail construction or commercial fit-outs will be highly regarded.
  • A construction qualification or relevant trade background will also be highly regarded.

Why Join Us?

  • Negotiable salary: A salary package based on your skills and experience.
  • Weekly pay: Enjoy the convenience of being paid weekly.
  • Free on-site parking: Available at our head office.
  • Project variety: Broaden your experience across retail developments, commercial fit-outs, refurbishments and other construction projects.
  • End-to-end involvement: See projects develop from preliminary drawings and planning through to construction and final handover.
  • Career progression: Build your capability and take on greater responsibility within the construction arm of an established national business.
