Report directly to the owners, with no layers in between. Pathway to Site Supervisor in around two years, based on performance.
The work involves installing decorative metal panels on ceilings, walls and architectural features. Every job is different: heritage buildings that are never square, detailed set-outs and finishes that sit in full view of the public. It’s work people notice and you can point to for years. If you like solving problems on site and getting it exactly right, this is the work. We’ve been doing it for 15 years with a team of six, based in Caringbah.
What you’ll own:
- The site: one job at a time, start to finish.
- The crew: A team of 3-4 to run, including training an apprentice and bringing them up to standard.
- The result: set-out, installation, finish quality and timeline.
- The call: you solve problems on site and deal directly with the client.
It is a hands-on role: about 80% on the tools and 20% supervising and coordinating.
How we work:
- Organised: jobs are planned and materials are ready before you get to site.
- Training is part of the job, from the product itself through to site supervision.
- A small team of six, where the owners know the work and are easy to reach.
What you’ll need:
- Trade qualification as a carpenter, plasterer, shopfitter or roofer.
- 5+ years’ experience with strong all-round site skills.
- Experience running a job or leading others, even on small jobs.
- High standards and accuracy in set-out, measurement and finish.
- The patience to teach an apprentice properly.
- White Card and driver’s licence.
- Pressed metal experience is preferred but not required.
The package:
- $100,000 – $130,000 + super, based on experience.
- Company vehicle with private use, fuel and tolls covered.
- 7am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional night work paid at penalty rates.
- Sydney metro jobs, with occasional regional work.
- Step up to Site Supervisor in around two years, based on performance.
