Swoomate is seeking a skilled and experienced Welder (First Class) to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be responsible for performing welding operations, interpreting technical specifications, and ensuring all work meets engineering standards and quality requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications to determine welding requirements.
- Select, clean and prepare metal materials and components for welding.
- Measure, mark, cut and shape metal sections using appropriate hand tools and metal-cutting equipment.
- Align and position metal components using measuring instruments, clamps and other appropriate tools.
- Perform MIG, TIG, MMA and other welding processes to join and repair metal components.
- Set up and adjust welding equipment and operating parameters to achieve accurate and consistent welds.
- Examine completed welds for bead width, penetration, precision and structural integrity.
- Identify welding defects and undertake corrective welding and repairs as required.
- Clean, grind and smooth welded joints to achieve the required finish.
- Ensure all welding activities comply with engineering specifications, quality requirements and workplace health and safety standards.
About you:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welding) or an equivalent relevant trade qualification.
- Certificate IV in Engineering or a related qualification will be highly regarded.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant welding experience.
- Demonstrated experience in MIG, TIG and MMA welding techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Sound knowledge of welding procedures, metal preparation and quality inspection.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
- Good understanding of Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
