Sunrise Foundation is a not-for-profit housing charity that believes housing is so much more than somewhere to live. We find, fund and fill homes across Australia, reinvest what we earn in our community purpose, and give every tenant, at every rent level, the same standard of respect, care and service. Our portfolio of over 400 properties is growing, and so is our impact.
We’re looking for an experienced leader to run our housing work and key partnerships, working directly with the CEO. You’ll lead our Transitional program, oversee the affordable homes our property management partners look after, and build the policies, evidence and reporting that regulators and funders expect. You’ll build a team as we grow.
What you’ll do
- Lead allocation and coordination with case managers for Transitional clients, focused on helping people settle, stay housed and move forward
- Oversee property management partners’ delivery of standard and affordable tenancies, holding them to agreed KPIs and SLAs
- Lead compliance with local community housing regulations, keeping our evidence audit‑ready as we grow
- Build and maintain our policy suite, and report on outcomes to the CEO, Board, ACNC and funders
- Partner with domestic and family violence, disability, crisis and homelessness services, and with government
- Build and lead a team as the portfolio grows
What you’ll bring
- Leadership experience in social, community or affordable housing, or a closely related homelessness or domestic violence service
- Knowledge of social housing allocation and residential tenancies legislation across multiple states
- Experience with, or strong knowledge of, the community housing regulatory environment (NRSCH), including compliance, reporting and audit readiness
- Trauma‑informed, strengths‑based practice with people with complex and intersecting needs
- Strong reporting, writing and partner‑management skills
- Diploma of Community Services (or higher), held or in progress, plus at least five years' relevant industry experience
- Working With Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain them), current driver’s licence and willingness to travel interstate
- Desirable: community housing experience, multi‑state tenancy knowledge, understanding of disability housing (NDIS and SDA), experience in a start‑up, growing or niche for‑purpose organisation
What we offer
- Salary packaging of up to $15,900 a year, tax‑free
- Full‑time, permanent, 38 hours over five days, based in Parramatta
- A supportive environment that values personal and professional growth, learning and wellbeing
- An extra day off in your birthday month to celebrate
- Real influence on how Sunrise grows
- Meaningful work helping people secure a safe, stable home and build from there
At Sunrise, we believe everyone deserves to feel at home, and that includes our team. We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from everyone, whatever your background, identity, age or experience, and we particularly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability and people with lived experience.
If this role excites you but you don’t meet every criterion, we’d still love to hear from you. We value potential and passion as well as experience.
Selection will include an interview and may include a skills or scenario exercise, assessed on merit against the criteria. Appointment is subject to reference checks, a National Police Check, a Working With Children Check and proof of right to work in Australia. We may keep strong applicants in a talent pool for future roles.
