We're seeking a full-time Inventory Officer to join our Supply Chain team. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you'll oversee inventory replenishment, maintenance, and development across our national branch network, building and managing the global supply chain that keeps our shelves stocked. You'll make sure the right stock is in the right place at the right time and at the right price. This role suits someone who enjoys analysing data and keeping many moving parts on track. We are open to developing the role to include procurement-based tasks for exceptional candidates with this experience and skill set.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced knowledge in inventory systems, and knowledge of the associated building blocks such as safety stock, forecasting, lead-time and reorder cycle units is needed.
- Strong knowledge of stainless and performance steels is also desirable.
- You’ll be comfortable with IT and business systems and confident presenting recommendations to senior management.
- We’re after someone who is organised, persistent and analytical, who thinks independently and can juggle multiple tasks at once.
- You’ll communicate clearly with internal customers including Purchasing, Sales, Quality, Logistics and our leadership team, with a professional & customer-focused approach.
- If you take ownership of an order from request to handover rather than passing problems along, you’ll do well here, and there’s genuine room to grow with a national business.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Inventory Health & Maintenance
- Create and review reports to monitor demand and take proactive and reactive action to keep optimum stock available.
- Run routine health checks on stock lines across all branches to reduce stock-outs, overstocking and dead stock.
- Action routine transfers between warehouses to support sales order fulfilment and improve stock health.
- Work with Sales Product Management on forecasts, adjusting them where needed to meet demand.
- Support Sales and Projects with large orders and long-term draw-down orders that need specific inventory planning.
- Analyse inventory data to identify inconsistencies and discrepancies, and update tools and software where it helps.
- Process new item code requests & manage existing item codes and item descriptions.
- Assist the Inventory Manager with monthly upkeep tasks, including pricing lists and internal replenishment of cut or manufactured items.
- Review and publish cyclical replenishment reports for our warehouses and work with Sales Product Controllers on review and approval alongside purchasing officers.
- Monitor stock for stock-outs and potential stock-outs and act quickly to correct them.
- Approve changes or additions to live requisition orders from an inventory management perspective, and challenge requests that aren’t substantiated.
- Review forecasting to ensure efficient reorder processes & reviews.
- Support & Reporting
- Support the Inventory Manager in any additional tasks within the subject knowledge of inventory division.
- Support the logistics teams with advice regarding cost allocations when necessary.
- Support sales teams with suggested forecasting and stock level improvement opportunities.
- Support the Purchasing team, the Supply Chain Manager and contribute to improving our procedures and systems.
Responsibilities are not limited to those listed above.
