Make a real difference to children and teenagers in need. Amazing location, great staffing team. Due to our gender mix and existing staffing pool, we are looking for males to fill casual/contract and potentially permanent positions. The advertised positions are responsible for our 6–12-year-old boys in the Narrabeen cabin. This includes educating them on life skills, mentoring and supervising cabin, meal and shower times.

Successful staff will start as casuals, with one or two full-time contract roles available for 2027 that may turn into permanent positions for staff showing the skills to do the role well and enhance the experience and safety for our students.

About us: Each year, 1,600 public school children in need come to Stewart House from many parts of NSW and the ACT. During their stay, children are provided with optometric, dental and medical treatment as well as emotional support. This is balanced with health and educational programs and out of school activities to boost their self-esteem and promote a healthier lifestyle. We welcome up to 84 children every fortnight to our site for a 12-day stay.

About the role: Stewart House is seeking skilled males to work as Children’s Supervisors within the Residential Care Team, working primarily with children aged 7-14 years after and before school, overnight and across weekends inside the NSW public education school terms. New Supervisors will work in partnership with another Supervisor to learn the role, helping the boys with the above whilst also taking them on a variety of excursions and activities. Private, in-dormitory overnight accommodation is provided while on duty.

Working Hours: Overnight shifts start at 3.15pm, include an overnight stay/sleep, and finish at 9.15am the following morning. Staff are paid 10 hours for overnight shifts, with the hours 10pm - 6am considered 'sleep'. Weekend day shifts go from 9:15am to 3:15pm.

Casual Hourly Rate: $47.75 (2026 rate). Casual Supervisors must be qualified or studying a Psychology, Health, Education or Child-Related field. Flexibility for those with experience working with children is required. Note candidates will need to have current Working with Children's Check, First Aid qualifications and health screening and vaccination in accordance with Health NSW guidelines (including COVID vaccine).

We are only interested in staff being available to work up to 6 overnights a fortnight who have experience working with groups of boys and solid behavioural management.
