Your Role at St John of God Midland Hospital:

As the Medical Education Registrar, you will play a key role in supporting the professional and educational development of Junior Medical Officers (JMOs), including interns, while contributing to the delivery of high-quality medical education across the hospital. This unique opportunity will provide valuable insight into the operations, leadership structures and educational functions of a busy metropolitan teaching hospital. This position is offered at 0.5 FTE on a 12-month fixed-term contract, commencing in February 2027.

The successful candidate will act as an advocate for JMOs, representing their interests and contributing to key discussions relating to training, wellbeing and professional development. You will assist in the development of mentorship programs for service registrars and non-vocational JMOs and support initiatives that foster a positive learning environment.

In collaboration with postgraduate medical education leaders, you will also contribute to the wellbeing and pastoral care of JMOs, including supporting trainees who may require additional guidance or remedial support. As part of the role, you will liaise closely with the DPGME and represent both JMOs and the Postgraduate Medical Education unit on several key committees and forums, including the Postgraduate Training Committee, DCT Forum, Welfare Committee and Inter-Hospital Educational Committee.

About You:

You will have General Registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and preferably an Advanced trainee status or significant progress towards an advanced trainee position in a recognised speciality. You will have demonstrated knowledge and expertise in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities, with the ability and experience to pass on knowledge to the Hospital’s junior medical staff. Above all, people will be at the core of everything you do, committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
