About the role:
As a Forklift Driver and Warehouse Operative, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient offloading and loading of cargo, maintaining an organised warehouse environment, and supporting smooth day-to-day operations. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00 or 11:00-20:00 (includes a one hour lunch), with overtime required during busy periods.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating a forklift and carrying out manual handling activities
- Picking, packing, and tracking inventory while ensuring safe loading and offloading of cargo
- Maintaining stock levels and supporting goods in and goods out processes
- Keeping the warehouse and yard clean, tidy, and safe at all times
About you:
You must hold a valid Counterbalance (minimum 1.8T) forklift truck operator certificate. A Reach truck certificate would be an additional advantage. Ideally, you will have some supervisory or team leader experience. You will be comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment, with good communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively. You will be flexible in your approach, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and confident following safety procedures and operational guidelines. You will need solid experience in loading and unloading trucks (with good health and safety awareness), completing paperwork, picking orders and problem solving.
In an ideal world, you will have experience with:
- Pallet network loading and unloading (day and night trunks)
- Inspecting pallets for any damage, cracks, loose loads
- Reporting any pallet structure/load issues including missing cartons
- Re-building pallets when required to ensure freight is secure
- Picking orders and loading to allocated vehicles
- Checking paperwork to ensure all items have been correctly picked
- Unloading to assigned areas or have the ability to plan unloading with a view to onward travel
- Operating a Reach Truck
The position will be largely based within Lombard Shipping's pallet division but you may sometimes be required to work with the warehouse and transport department, so it is an advantage if you have the following experience:
