Southern Grampians Shire Council is seeking a reliable and motivated Casual Livestock Exchange Operator to support the safe and efficient operation of our Livestock Exchange. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable around livestock and takes pride in keeping a busy operational facility running smoothly.
About the role
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Livestock Exchange, particularly around sale days and other periods of operational demand.
- Assisting with livestock movements and general yard operations.
- Supporting the safe and efficient operation of sale days.
- Cleaning and maintaining yards, facilities and equipment.
- Undertaking general labouring and operational duties.
- Identifying and reporting maintenance, safety or operational issues.
- Providing practical assistance to staff, agents, producers and other Livestock Exchange users.
- Following Council workplace health and safety, animal welfare and operational requirements.
About you
- Reliable, flexible and willing to work as part of a team.
- Confident working in an outdoor and livestock environment.
- Good practical skills and a hands-on approach.
- Understands the importance of safe work practices.
- Can communicate respectfully with colleagues, agents, producers and members of the community.
- Available to work on a casual basis when required, including around livestock sale operations.
- Previous experience in agriculture, livestock handling, saleyards, farming, labouring or a similar operational environment would be highly regarded.
