Put your practical skills to work on our Coffs Harbour campus. Full-time, continuing role with 17% employer superannuation. Bring your trade or maintenance experience into a new career.

Join our Coffs Harbour campus as a Facilities Officer (General) and play a hands-on role in keeping our workplace safe, functional and well presented. From tackling minor repairs and general maintenance to responding to work requests and coordinating contractors, you’ll help create an environment where our students and staff can thrive. This is a varied, practical role where initiative, sound judgement and the ability to juggle competing priorities are essential.

You will make an impact by:

  • Completing general maintenance and minor repairs to buildings, finishes & furniture around campus, and triaging when specialist support is needed.
  • Assessing and prioritising maintenance requests, responding promptly to faults and ensuring safety issues are addressed appropriately.
  • Coordinating contractors and working collaboratively with University staff, TAFE NSW, Coffs Harbour Senior College and other campus stakeholders to keep work moving.
  • Supporting campus operations through grounds maintenance, equipment and furniture setups, deliveries and general facilities support.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records, completing safety checks and following safe work practices across all tasks.

What you will bring:

  • You’re a practical, hands-on problem solver who enjoys variety and takes pride in a job well done.
  • You’re comfortable working independently, can adapt when priorities change and know how to balance getting things done with working safely.
  • You can assess a situation, determine what needs attention first and recognise when a job requires a licensed trade or specialist contractor.

To succeed in this role, you will also need:

  • Experience in general maintenance, facilities support, grounds, logistics, or a similar hands-on environment, with the practical ability to safely complete minor repairs.
  • Sound judgement, initiative and the confidence to work autonomously while knowing when to seek advice or elevate an issue.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of clients, contractors and staff.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety principles, including the ability to apply risk controls, safe work practices and relevant safety documentation.
  • Computing skills, including the ability to use computer-based systems to record maintenance activities, update work requests and maintain accurate records.

It's not essential, but a trade qualification or exposure to plumbing, carpentry, or similar is highly desirable.

Your opportunity is:

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent)
  • Located at Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450
  • HEW Level 4. The base salary ranges from $77,765 - $83,511 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $97,707.
