With your skills and experience, you can contribute to the millions of ways we're enriching health, and develop your career as part of the largest health organisation in Australia.

Join a dedicated and collaborative Social Work team where you will play a vital role in supporting patients, families and carers through complex and often challenging healthcare journeys. This position provides specialist Social Work services to ensure optimal health outcomes through advanced psychosocial assessment, counselling, advocacy and care coordination.

Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will apply high‐level clinical judgement to deliver consumer‐centred, evidence‐based care that aligns with SWSLHD policies, professional standards, relevant legislation and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.

In addition to direct clinical practice, you will have the opportunity to contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, research and professional supervision. This role offers a rewarding pathway to influence patient outcomes, support the development of future Social Work professionals, and help shape high‐quality, culturally responsive healthcare services.

If you are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families, this is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team committed to excellence in healthcare delivery.

Are You the Right Fit?

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Social Worker with advanced clinical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‐paced critical care environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong psychosocial assessment and intervention capabilities, excellent communication and advocacy skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships with consumers, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.

A commitment to evidence‐based practice, professional integrity, and delivering care within legal and ethical frameworks is essential. You will also bring leadership qualities, including experience in clinical supervision, mentoring, quality improvement, and service development activities.

The ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and contribute positively to a culture that reflects the values of respect, accountability, and excellence will be highly regarded. Flexibility is important, as weekend work, on‐call duties, and after‐hours participation form part of the role.

If you're motivated to provide high‐quality social work services and support some of the most vulnerable patients within the healthcare system, you could be the ideal candidate for this rewarding position.

Selection Criteria

A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Tell us about a complex case you managed where you had to prioritise competing demands, make an independent clinical decision, and work with the multidisciplinary team. What was your approach and outcome?

Describe a time when you provided supervision, consultation, or leadership to social work staff and contributed to a quality improvement initiative. What was your role and what were the results?
