Council is seeking a qualified and experienced mechanic to support the day-to-day operations involved in the maintenance and repair of fleet within the Workshop. This role involves carrying out a range of maintenance activities, including the inspection and servicing of heavy plant and equipment, trucks, and light vehicles, as well as diagnosing and rectifying faults both in the workshop and on-site. The successful applicant will have extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy earthmoving plant and machinery, along with the ability to implement and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program for all fixed and mobile plant assets.
Additional Factors:
- Participation in after hours and weekend work is a requirement of this position.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Relevant Mechanical Trade Certificate
- Minimum requirement of a current MR Licence
- General Safety Induction for Construction Worker Certification (White Card)
Desirable Qualifications:
- HR drivers' licence and/or Forklift Ticket
- Understanding chain of responsibilities with knowledge of NHVR

Skills and experience:
- Substantial relevant experience in undertaking repairs, maintenance and working with heavy earthmoving plant and machinery.
- Ability to implement and maintain an effective preventive maintenance program for all fixed and mobile plant.
- Sound literacy and numeracy skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and under minimal supervision.
- Basic level of keyboard and computer skills, including working knowledge of the MS Office Suite.
