Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the iconic Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy in the National Electricity Market. We also provide electricity and gas to over 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

Are you a proven mobilisation and workforce compliance leader ready to shape the team powering Australia's largest renewable energy project? As the Onboarding Lead - Snowy 2.0, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for preparing, mobilising, and onboarding the workforce across the project. Reporting directly to the Head of People and Culture (Snowy 2.0), you will drive workforce readiness- ensuring personnel are fully compliant, competent, and ready to perform safely before deployment. Beyond core mobilisation and compliance, this dynamic role gives you strategic oversight of project events and Cooma-based housing logistics, directly influencing the broader employee experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Lead, coach, and manage a multidisciplinary team across mobilisation, onboarding, training, and compliance functions. Develop and execute the Employee Relations Mobilisation Plan (ERMP) and Workforce Readiness procedures.
  • End-to-End Mobilisation: Oversee site access, verification of licenses/tickets, medical clearances, national police clearances, and FIFO/DIDO logistics.
  • Training & Compliance Governance: Drive 100% compliance with Snowy Hydro, Principal Contractor, and regulatory standards. Oversee audit readiness and deliver regular compliance dashboards to executive leadership.
  • Strategic Housing Management (Cooma): Lead housing allocations, establish key relationships with local real estate providers, negotiate accommodation contracts, and implement a streamlined housing framework.
  • Events & Recognition Oversight: Direct project-related events, integration with major milestones, and internal recognition initiatives (e.g., Values Awards).
  • Continuous Improvement: Harness digital solutions and automation to streamline processes, improve onboarding speed and elevate the candidate experience.

About the location: This role is located at our Project Head Office in Cooma, NSW. We can look at relocation or a FIFO arrangement and there may be a certain degree of flexibility for the right candidate.

About you:

  • Experience: Experience within Mobilisation or Onboarding with the construction, mining or oil & gas sectors. Experience in a leadership role is not essential but highly regarded.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of workforce compliance, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Mobilisation Expertise: Proven background managing high-volume, fast-paced FIFO/DIDO mobilisation programs and competency frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across senior leadership, contractors, and local community service providers.
  • Systems Proficiency: Strong familiarity with workforce management, training, and compliance software.
