Sloane Plumbing is seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Bookkeeper & Financial Administrator to take ownership of the day-to-day bookkeeping, financial administration and commercial controls of our growing business. This is not a traditional data-entry bookkeeping role. We are looking for someone who is highly organised, commercially minded and detail-focused - someone who reviews information, asks questions, investigates discrepancies and takes ownership of getting things resolved. Working closely with the Director, project teams and external accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial administration of the business is accurate, up to date and properly controlled.

About the Role

This is a broad, hands-on role combining bookkeeping, payroll, accounts administration and commercial financial control. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounts function while also maintaining visibility over project revenue, claims, outstanding debtors, supplier costs and other key financial information across the business. We are looking for someone who doesn't simply process transactions. You will be expected to review information critically, identify discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping & Accounts
    • Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounts function
    • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
    • Process and accurately code supplier and subcontractor invoices
    • Review supplier invoices against purchase orders, project allocations and supporting documentation
    • Identify and investigate discrepancies in invoices, costs and account allocations
    • Prepare and manage supplier and subcontractor payment runs
    • Reconcile supplier statements and follow up outstanding credits and credit notes
    • Complete bank, credit card and general ledger reconciliations
    • Maintain accurate financial records within Xero
    • Manage project cost allocations and ensure expenditure is correctly coded
    • Assist with GST and BAS reconciliations and preparation
    • Assist with month-end close processes and financial reporting
    • Liaise closely with our external accountant and provide information required for month-end, BAS and other financial requirements
  • Payroll
    • Manage end-to-end payroll processing
    • Review timesheets and payroll information prior to processing
    • Identify and investigate anomalies, discrepancies and inconsistencies in timesheets
    • Liaise with operational staff and management to clarify payroll queries
    • Manage leave entitlements, superannuation and PAYG requirements
    • Complete payroll reconciliations and maintain accurate employee records
    • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time
  • Accounts Receivable & Cash Collection
    • Monitor outstanding accounts receivable
    • Actively follow up overdue invoices and outstanding claims
    • Manage debtor queries and work with clients and project teams to resolve payment issues
    • Maintain clear visibility over outstanding revenue and expected cash receipts
    • Escalate significant debtor issues to management where required
