At Slingshot Aerospace, we're on a mission to make space safer and more secure for everyone. Our work directly impacts global security, disaster response, climate monitoring, and the critical infrastructure that connects our world. We're a team of builders, thinkers, and problem-solvers who believe that the next generation of space operations will be powered by better data and smarter software.
As a Space Surveillance Systems Technician, you will help keep Slingshot’s Global Sensor Network (GSN) operating reliably around the world. The majority of your time will be spent remotely monitoring, diagnosing, and troubleshooting fielded sensor systems during your assigned business hours. You’ll need to understand how the systems operate conceptually and physically so you can translate what you are seeing remotely on a screen into what is likely happening with hardware in the field.
Your Mission:
- Monitor the health and performance of fielded GSN systems and conduct remote troubleshooting during assigned business hours.
- Diagnose hardware, software, networking, electrical, mechanical, and system-level issues using remote monitoring tools, logs, telemetry, documentation, and operational data.
- Document troubleshooting activities, system status, unresolved issues, and recommended next steps to enable effective handoffs between global operations teams and timezones.
- Perform routine system health checks, software and firmware updates, preventative maintenance activities, and corrective actions to maintain system uptime and data quality.
- Support field installation, integration, alignment, calibration, testing, maintenance, and repair of GSN hardware and software systems.
- Maintain accurate inventory and asset records and support equipment movement between Slingshot locations, depots, vendors, and deployment sites.
- Coordinate basic logistics activities including equipment pickup, packaging, shipping, receiving, and shipment tracking.
- Provide field and operational feedback to engineering teams to improve system reliability, maintainability, and support processes.
Pre-flight Checklist:
- 3+ years of experience supporting optical, electrical, robotic, automated, technical field, or similarly complex systems, OR a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across mechanical, electrical, computer, networking, or integrated systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, outcomes, and handoffs.
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to elevate issues or engage engineering and other technical resources.
- Working knowledge of Linux and cloud application tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, drawings, and system diagrams.
- Ability to coordinate routine shipping, receiving, and equipment logistics activities with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed, generally up to approximately 25% of the role.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. during installation, maintenance, shipping, or equipment-handling activities.
Bonus Cargo:
- 2+ years of experience in operations, technical support, sustainment, or mission operations.
- Experience troubleshooting technical systems remotely or supporting geographically distributed equipment.
- Experience with inventory management, asset tracking, shipping, receiving, logistics coordination, or depot operations.
We're building a constellation here, not looking for identical satellites. Every member of the team brings different capabilities to the same mission. If your orbit intersects with ours and you're mission-ready, send it.
