SKS Technologies is seeking an experienced Electrical & Communications Technician to join our team in a site-based maintenance role supporting a Melbourne-based client. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned electrician with extensive industry experience who is looking for a stable, hands-on role where they can continue applying their trade knowledge and technical expertise.

We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced tradespeople who have built up strong practical skills throughout their careers and are looking for a consistent, site-based position rather than ongoing project work. If you take pride in your work, enjoy troubleshooting and maintenance, and want to continue contributing your experience in a long-term role, we would love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

Working on-site, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to reactive maintenance requests and supporting the reliable operation of electrical infrastructure and associated building systems. You will work closely with the client’s facilities management team, providing technical support, identifying faults and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests, diagnose faults and undertake rectification works.
  • Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with the client’s maintenance programme.
  • Inspect, maintain and troubleshoot electrical infrastructure, including lighting, emergency and exit lighting, switchboards, LV systems, UPS systems, motors and associated equipment.
  • Undertake minor repairs and general maintenance within your level of competency.
  • Provide initial fault diagnosis across building services, including mechanical, hydraulic, fire, communications, CCTV, security and access control systems.
  • Coordinate with specialist contractors where additional technical support is required.
  • Monitor equipment condition, identify recurring faults and recommend preventative solutions.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records and job close-out notes accurately.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, equipment deterioration and maintenance risks.
  • Assist with critical spare parts management and maintaining essential equipment availability.
  • Participate in site inductions, toolbox meetings and relevant training.
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call roster as required.

About You

You are a hands-on electrical tradesperson with a practical approach to maintenance, fault finding and problem-solving. You take pride in your work, communicate well with clients and can work independently while remaining a reliable member of the broader team.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A current Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • Experience maintaining electrical infrastructure and associated building services.
  • A current driver's licence.
  • A current Construction Induction White Card.
  • A current Elevated Work Platform (EWP) ticket.
  • A current High Risk Work Licence for boom-type elevating work platforms over 11 metres, where required for the role.
  • The ability to complete maintenance documentation and service reports.
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • A National Police Check, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Open cabling registration and relevant communications endorsements will be highly regarded.

Why Join SKS Technologies?

  • A consistent, site-based role with an established Melbourne client.
  • The opportunity to apply your trade knowledge and experience in a maintenance-focused environment.
  • A hands-on position with variety across electrical infrastructure and building services.
  • The opportunity to build a long-term working relationship with the client and site team.
