SiNAB is looking for an exceptional R&D / Product Development Engineer to join our growing engineering team and contribute to the development of advanced Australian Defence and aerospace technology.
This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, exploring new technologies and turning innovative ideas into working products.
Working across multiple engineering disciplines, you’ll contribute to the complete product development lifecycle, from early-stage research and concept development through to design, prototyping, system integration and real-world testing.
What we’re looking for
We’re particularly interested in engineers who bring strong technical curiosity, analytical thinking and a genuine desire to understand how things work.
You’ll be someone who:
- Enjoys tackling complex technical challenges that don’t always have obvious answers.
- Can apply engineering fundamentals and first-principles thinking to develop practical solutions.
- Is comfortable working across different engineering disciplines and learning unfamiliar technologies.
- Enjoys designing, building, testing and improving products.
- Takes ownership of problems and works collaboratively to find solutions.
- Brings fresh thinking, challenges assumptions and thrives in a hands‑on R&D environment.
Qualifications
- A degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical/Electronic, Robotics or another relevant engineering or physical‑science discipline.
- An Honours degree, Masters or PhD involving research, experimentation or product development would be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Exceptional candidates from related scientific or technical disciplines will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong engineering capability.
We’re open to candidates at different stages of their careers, from exceptional graduates and early‑career engineers through to experienced R&D and product development professionals.
Experience in Defence or aerospace is desirable but not essential. We value demonstrated capability, technical versatility and the ability to learn.
Applicants must be able to satisfy applicable Defence industry security, nationality, export‑control and customer requirements.
