Technical Manager - Yacht & Marine Construction in City of Cockburn

Silver Yachts is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to oversee technical operations, resources and engineering support across our yacht construction projects in Australia and China.

As the head of the technical department, you will play a key leadership role in coordinating technical teams, managing design deliverables and ensuring technical resources support production schedules, project budgets and construction requirements. This is a senior management opportunity for a technically experienced professional with a strong background in shipyard technical management and high-quality yacht and commercial vessel construction.

About the Role

Reporting to the COO and Directors, you will oversee technical personnel, documentation, design coordination and technical processes to support production and project management requirements across both businesses.

• Managing technical personnel, resources and team development.
• Overseeing technical drawings, procedures, standards and documentation.
• Reviewing and coordinating design documentation requirements to support project schedules and production deadlines.
• Managing technical workflows, processes, innovation and operational efficiency.
• Controlling technical and design hours within project budgets.
• Coordinating subcontracted design services and managing external design resources.
• Supporting Project Managers and Quality Control teams in liaising with classification societies, flag authorities and marine departments to resolve technical issues.
• Ensuring technical resources and deliverables align with project priorities, construction requirements and production schedules.
• Managing technical responsibilities and assignments as directed by the COO.

About you

• At least 5 years' experience in shipyard technical management.
• At least 10 years' experience in high-quality yacht and commercial vessel construction.
• Strong technical management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing technical teams and coordinating complex design and construction deliverables.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English, including speaking, reading and writing.
• The ability to work collaboratively with management, design, production, procurement and project teams.
• A naval architecture background, preferably with engineering or electrical experience.
• Experience in aluminium vessel construction.
• Established supplier relationships and knowledge of marine industry supply chains.
• Experience working across international shipbuilding or yacht construction operations.
