We are seeking a practical and experienced Civil Maintenance Inspector to inspect roads, drainage, paths and other civil infrastructure assets across the Shire.
This is a hands‑on, field-based role focused on identifying maintenance issues, assessing defects, prioritising works and working closely with operational crews to ensure infrastructure is maintained to a safe and serviceable standard.
This position is ideal for someone with practical experience in civil construction, civil maintenance, roadworks, drainage, utilities or plant operations who is looking to transition into an inspection or coordination role. Applications from experienced plant operators, leading hands and civil maintenance personnel are strongly encouraged.
In this role you will have the following accountabilities:
- Conduct inspections of roads, drainage systems, footpaths and other civil infrastructure assets.
- Identify defects, maintenance requirements and safety issues.
- Record inspection findings and maintain accurate asset information.
- Prioritise maintenance works and assist with work planning.
- Liaise with operational crews, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Respond to customer requests and investigate reported infrastructure issues.
- Monitor completed works and ensure maintenance activities have been undertaken to the required standard.
- Assist with improving inspection processes and asset information.
About you!!
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate III in Civil Construction or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Practical experience in civil maintenance, civil construction, road maintenance, drainage works, utilities, plant operations or a similar operational environment.
- Sound knowledge of civil infrastructure and common maintenance requirements.
- The ability to identify defects and recommend practical maintenance solutions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using tablets, mobile devices and computer systems to record information.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A commitment to workplace safety and customer service.
The Important Stuff!
We offer a competitive salary package of $81,745 - $84,216 per annum (dependent on experience), plus 12% superannuation and commuter use of a Shire vehicle.
