Melbourne VIC or Newcastle NSW | Full Time

Own the portfolio. Build new categories. Shape what comes next.

We're looking for an experienced Product Manager who knows how to build product ranges that sell, deliver margin and outperform the competition.

You'll take commercial ownership of Sheffield's Hand Tools, Industrial and Workshop portfolio — developing new products, strengthening supplier partnerships and identifying opportunities for growth.

The role will be based in Melbourne VIC, although we're also open to candidates based in Newcastle / Lake Macquarie NSW.

Who are we?

Sheffield Group is a fourth-generation, family-owned Australian business with big ambition and established brands across the trade, construction, industrial and retail markets.

Across brands including Alpha, Sterling, Bristol, Action and Union, we supply cutting, drilling, hand tool and power tool accessory solutions built for people who rely on their tools to get the job done.

We're growing, investing in product development and serious about taking market share.

We value high standards, good people, strong relationships and products we're proud to put our name behind.

What you'll be doing

You’ll own your categories, your numbers and your results.

Build and execute category strategies that drive sales, gross margin and market share.

Manage range planning, pricing, forecasting, SKU productivity and product lifecycles.

Identify market gaps and customer opportunities through research and competitor analysis.

Lead New Product Development from concept through validation, launch and post-launch review, with a credible commercial case behind each project.

Negotiate with suppliers to secure better costs, quality and trading terms.

Work closely with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and international sourcing teams to get products to market.

We're interested in building stronger ranges, with every product earning its place.

Who you are

You're an experienced Product Manager, Category Manager or commercially focused product professional who understands physical products and how to make money from them.

You’ll bring

  • Proven experience in range management, supplier negotiation, commercial analysis, forecasting and New Product Development.
  • Strong judgement around sales, margin, pricing and profitability.
  • Thorough research and analytical skills, with recommendations backed by accurate data.
  • Confidence to challenge suppliers, existing ranges and the status quo.
  • Curiosity about products, customers, competitors and emerging opportunities.
  • The organisation and initiative to manage multiple priorities and follow through.
  • A practical, decisive approach to working across departments and delivering results.
  • Experience across tools, hardware, industrial, automotive, workshop, construction or related product categories would be valuable. International sourcing experience is a bonus.

Industry knowledge matters. Commercial capability, ownership and judgement matter more.

Life with us

You'll be joining a growing business with established brands, ambitious plans and genuine room to make an impact.

You’ll get

  • A substantial portfolio with scope to build new categories and shape future product direction.
  • Direct access to Product leadership and decision-makers.
  • Strong R&D capability and established international supplier relationships.
  • A high-trust, practical culture where good ideas can move quickly.
  • Some travel may be required for supplier, customer, product and business activities.

We're looking for someone who sees the opportunity, does the homework, makes the call and delivers.

If that's you, we'd like to hear from you.
