ShawX is a growing Australian manufacturer of innovative vehicle solutions, committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Team Leader - Production to lead our production team and help drive operational excellence across our manufacturing facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for coordinating daily production activities, supporting team performance, maintaining quality and safety standards, and driving Lean Manufacturing initiatives across the workshop.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead a team of Production Assembly Operators, Trade Assistants, and Apprentices, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the high standards expected by ShawX and our customers.
You will play a key role in coordinating workflow between departments, managing production priorities, supporting employee development, and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate daily production and assembly activities.
Allocate resources and manage workflow to achieve production targets and delivery schedules.
Supervise fit-up and assembly operations to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Monitor production performance and resolve operational issues, delays, and bottlenecks.
Coach, mentor, and develop team members to achieve high levels of performance.
Conduct toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and daily production planning activities.
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across the production team.
Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, waste reduction, and continuous improvement activities.
Monitor quality outcomes and implement corrective actions where required.
Maintain accurate production, quality, and safety documentation.
Work collaboratively with Engineering, Fabrication, Paint, and other operational teams.
About You
You are a proactive and hands-on leader who enjoys working alongside your team and leading by example. You have a strong manufacturing background and can balance operational priorities while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and team performance.
You will bring:
Previous experience in a Team Leader, Leading Hand, or Supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment.
Experience in assembly, fit-up, vehicle manufacturing, heavy manufacturing, or a related industry.
Strong leadership, communication, and people-management skills.
Sound understanding of production workflows, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.
Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles is adventageous.
Strong problem-solving and decision‑making capabilities.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
Forklift Licence (LF) and trade qualifications will be highly regarded.
