Production Supervisor - Early Shift | Food Manufacturing | Brisbane

Our client is a well-established national seafood business heading into its busy period. They're looking for a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead the early shift at their Brisbane packing facility.

The role

You’ll run the 4:00am shift (finishing around midday) and be the person who gets the site ready before the packing teams arrive at 5:00am. You’ll lead around 12 people across the manual packing tables and the value-add room, working closely with the on-shift Quality Controller to make sure HACCP and product specs are met.

Product made in the morning typically ships that afternoon or the next day, so this is a fast-paced role that suits someone who stays ahead of the plan and adapts quickly when things change.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare production lines ahead of shift start, including raw materials, packaging and pre-op cleaning requirements

  • Lead, coach and mentor a mixed permanent and labour hire team

  • Onboard new starters, address underperformance and support performance reviews

  • Review the next day’s production plan, anticipate issues and reprioritise when delays occur

  • Partner with Quality to meet HACCP and product requirements

  • Carry out first-line troubleshooting with operators and elevate to the on-site maintenance technician when needed

  • Cover other supervisor shifts occasionally when required

About you

  • Proven supervisory or people leadership experience in food manufacturing, ideally a cold chain environment such as seafood or meat

  • Strong leadership skills and the confidence to coach and hold people accountable

  • Proactive and forward-thinking, someone who plans one to two hours ahead rather than reacting

  • Able to think on your feet and keep delivery on track under time pressure

  • Working knowledge of HACCP and food safety protocols

  • Comfortable with a cold, wet environment, early starts and a fast tempo

What’s on offer

  • Stable, day-time hours with a 4:00am start and lunch time finish

  • Positive, supportive leadership team and a workplace culture that has been recognised in audit feedback

  • Genuine career progression, with recent internal moves into planning and national roles and a pathway towards Production Manager

  • Competitive salary package, commensurate with experience
