Sharp & Carter are partnering with a well-established construction business to recruit a Finance Manager in a newly enhanced leadership role, as they undergo an exciting next phase of growth.
This is an excellent, career defining opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys operating close to the business, partnering with project teams, influencing commercial outcomes, with a desire to play a genuine part in building a scalable finance function underpinned by the support of a strong group function.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, you'll take ownership of the finance function while helping drive performance across a diverse portfolio of projects.
You'll be responsible for providing both strategic and operational financial leadership across the business, combining financial control, construction accounting and commercial business partnering, offering broad exposure across project delivery/finance.
We're looking for a high energy individual with the hunger to build something sustainable, and the desire to be here long term and become an integral pillar of the business.
You'll be someone who knows the value of structure, and the importance of ensuring harmony across financial/non-financial stakeholders to drive growth.
You'll be backed by the directors and the group function all the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end processes, management reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Manage Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, project forecasting and revenue recognition
- Partner with project managers to review project performance, margins and financial risks
- Support contract reviews, variations, claims and subcontractor agreements
- Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability
- Manage compliance, statutory reporting and tax obligations
- Oversee intercompany accounting and broader corporate reporting requirements
- Drive financial controls, governance and continuous improvement initiatives across the business
- Ad-hoc travel as required
About You
We're interested in speaking with commercially minded finance professionals who enjoy working in fast-paced project environments and partnering closely with operational stakeholders. If you have built/improved a function (processes, controls, governance), then this is highly regarded but not essential.
You'll possess:
- CA or CPA qualifications
- Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant or similar
- Strong construction, engineering or project-based industry experience
- Deep understanding of WIP reporting, job costing and project forecasting
On offer for you:
- Broad leadership role with genuine autonomy to build a scalable finance function
- Direct exposure to senior and executive leadership
- Opportunity to influence project and business performance
- Strong career development opportunities within a growing organisation backed by a larger group
- Supportive and entrepreneurial environment
- East Brisbane location with onsite parking
If you're looking for a Finance Manager role where you can combine technical accounting expertise with commercial influence and project-facing business partnering, then we'd love to hear from you.
