Ready to lead the revenue strategy of one of the NRL’s most passionate clubs? At the Sharks, our purpose is to create unforgettable experiences for our members, fans, partners and community. Behind every one of those experiences is a strong and growing revenue base. We’re looking for an experienced, strategic and results driven Chief Revenue Officer to lead the Club’s revenue strategy and deliver sustainable, profitable growth.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, you’ll bring together the Club’s revenue generating functions, including membership, ticketing and game day, corporate hospitality and major events, sponsorship and partnerships, merchandise and retail, the Sharks Have Heart Foundation and community programs, and customer operations. This is a senior leadership role where you’ll align these teams around clear revenue targets, coordinated sales activity and a consistent experience for our members, partners and fans.

About the role:

  • As Chief Revenue Officer, you’ll lead revenue planning, sales performance, pricing and yield, customer acquisition and retention, and the development of new income streams.
  • You’ll strengthen recurring income, maximise the long term value of the Club’s customer and partner relationships, and contribute to Club wide strategy and investment priorities so that revenue growth supports our football, community and organisational objectives.

You will:

  • Develop and lead an integrated revenue strategy across the Club, with annual and multi year targets aligned to the Club’s strategic plan.
  • Lead and develop the revenue leadership team, building accountability for revenue, contribution, sales conversion, retention and service.
  • Establish consistent sales disciplines, including pipeline management, account planning, forecasting and performance reporting.
  • Lead revenue budgets and forecasts with the CFO/CCO, assessing performance, managing risk and taking corrective action when needed.
  • Drive membership acquisition, renewal, retention and lifetime value, working with the CEO, CFO/CCO and Head of Membership & Ticketing.
  • Lead ticketing and game day revenue strategy, including pricing, packaging and yield across general admission, reserved and premium products.
  • Lead the pursuit and negotiation of major sponsorship, naming rights and partnership opportunities, and grow the partner portfolio.
  • Grow corporate hospitality and major events revenue through new products, packages and sales plans.
  • Develop merchandise and retail strategy with the CFO/CCO across range, pricing, licensing and sales channels.
  • Develop the Sharks Have Heart Foundation strategy with the team and drive revenue to support our community programs.
  • Lead the Community department, ensuring the Sharks have a strong presence across the Shire and supporting the growth and delivery of our community programs, including our junior rugby league partnership.
  • Work with Marketing to align campaigns, customer engagement and lead generation with revenue priorities.
  • Report revenue performance, growth opportunities and risks to the CEO, CFO/CCO, Executive Leadership Team and Board.

About you:

We’re looking for a senior revenue leader who can set a clear strategy and turn it into sales plans, targets and results. You’ll be a skilled negotiator and relationship builder with strong commercial acumen, just as comfortable presenting to the Board as you are hosting partners and members on game day.

Ideally, you will have:

  • 10+ years of senior revenue, sales or executive leadership experience, with direct accountability for revenue growth and profitability.
  • Experience in professional sport, entertainment, venues, media, membership organisations or a comparable consumer facing industry.
  • Proven success developing and delivering revenue strategies across multiple products, customer segments and sales channels.
  • Strong capability in sales planning, pipeline management and accurate revenue forecasting.
  • Experience optimising pricing and yield, acquiring and retaining customers, and increasing customer lifetime value.
  • A strong track record of securing, renewing and growing major sponsorships, corporate partnerships and customer accounts.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering against financial and service targets.
  • Experience presenting revenue strategies, results and investment recommendations to executive teams and Boards.
  • A data and insight driven approach to identifying opportunities and improving results.
  • Resilience and adaptability to manage seasonal demand and event driven revenue cycles.
  • A tertiary qualification in business, commerce, marketing or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Knowledge of the NRL or club operations (highly regarded).

Why join the Sharks?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Sharks Executive Leadership Team and shape the revenue future of one of the NRL’s most passionate and community focused clubs. You’ll have the scope to lead every revenue stream, build a disciplined and high performing sales culture, and grow the income that supports our football, our Foundation and our community for years to come. If you’re a results driven revenue leader with a genuine passion for sport and community, we’d love to hear from you.
