We are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager for our client, an innovative healthcare technology business providing a cloud-based surgical outcomes platform. This is a permanent part-time, remote role for a commercially capable relationship-builder who can create momentum, progress opportunities and take ownership from first conversation through to conversion and retention.

THE COMPANY

Our client has developed a cloud-based platform that enables surgeons to record procedures, monitor complications and outcomes, and better understand their own performance. By turning clinical data into meaningful insight, the platform supports informed self-assessment, professional development and improved patient outcomes. The business is focused on growing its user base across Australia, New Zealand and the United States, building partnerships with surgical societies, colleges, professional associations and private hospital groups, and expanding into additional surgical specialties. You will join a small, capable and fully remote team working closely with the Managing Director, Product Manager, customer service and external marketing partner.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a broad, hands-on business development role combining strategic partnership development, direct sales, account management and disciplined lead follow-up. Your primary focus will be building and progressing partnerships with surgical societies, colleges, professional associations and private hospital groups, while also converting individual surgeons, practices and other healthcare decision-makers into users. You will own the commercial relationship and lead lifecycle end to end: identifying and qualifying opportunities, conducting discovery conversations and online demonstrations, preparing proposals, negotiating within approved parameters and keeping every lead moving towards a clear outcome. You will also maintain regular contact with existing users and partners, support retention and renewals, and bring market and customer insight back into the business. You will maintain accurate pipeline records in HubSpot, provide clear activity and forecast reporting, and represent the business at conferences, scientific meetings and industry events from time to time.

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • Demonstrated success in business development, sales or partnership management in a business-to-business environment;
  • A sound understanding of the healthcare sector and the ability to build credibility with senior clinicians and healthcare decision-makers;
  • Proven ability to independently own a lead or relationship from first contact through to close, without close supervision;
  • Strong partnership-development capability, ideally involving professional associations, societies, colleges, hospitals or other institutional channels;
  • Confidence conducting discovery conversations, online demonstrations, and preparing proposals and presentations independently;
  • A disciplined approach to follow-up, pipeline management and CRM record keeping;
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and responsive approach to customers and partners;
  • Strong self-management, organisation and prioritisation skills in a remote, small-team environment;
  • Confidence using online software, meeting tools, calendars and CRM platforms (experience with HubSpot will be advantageous but not essential);
  • A clinical, nursing or allied health background, or experience working directly with surgeons, will be highly regarded;
  • Previous business development or sales experience in medical, surgical, hospital or pharmaceutical settings will be highly regarded;
  • Familiarity with medical CPD requirements or exposure to the healthcare market would be advantageous;
  • A curious, self-directed and trustworthy approach, with genuine motivation to support improved patient outcomes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a permanent part-time role with scope to increase to full time, subject to business growth and agreed pipeline milestones. The role is fully remote / work from home; however ideally we are looking for someone based in Brisbane or South East QLD. Some travel, such as conference attendance, is required from time to time but is not expected to be frequent. Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
