Senior Privacy Advisors are responsible for delivering privacy advisory output across assigned Service NSW products and projects, with support from the Privacy Managers. The privacy team engages and works with all parts of Service NSW, our partner agencies and across the multiple channels that our customers use. We help Service NSW understand their obligations when dealing with personal information. We develop a range of assessments, materials and frameworks that guide how privacy operates in Service NSW, and how we protect the information we handle.

Your day-to-day

On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with stakeholders across Service NSW to support the delivery of privacy governance, advisory, and assurance activities. As part of a collaborative and fast-paced team, you will help drive privacy compliance and contribute to initiatives that strengthen privacy capability and manage privacy risk across the organisation.

You will provide privacy advice and support across a range of operational and project-based activities, assisting with privacy assessments, privacy incidents, data breaches, complaints, and internal reviews. You will collaborate with stakeholders to identify privacy risks, contribute to practical solutions, and support the implementation of privacy frameworks, policies, and processes that align with legislative and organisational requirements.

The role also involves assisting with the development of privacy-related briefings, reports, and governance documentation, while contributing to privacy awareness and education initiatives across the agency. You will build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, respond to privacy enquiries, and support the delivery of privacy projects and programs to achieve positive customer and business outcomes.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful privacy initiatives, support a customer-focused culture, and help enhance privacy maturity across Service NSW.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Experience providing advice and support on privacy-related matters, with a sound understanding of privacy principles, privacy legislation, or related disciplines such as policy, governance, risk, compliance, information management, or regulatory environments.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to identify and manage privacy risks and support informed decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, presentations, and advice tailored to different audiences.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex information, identify risks, and develop practical recommendations that balance privacy obligations with business and customer needs.
  • The ability to gather, interpret, and analyse information from multiple sources to provide meaningful insights and contribute to quality privacy outcomes.
  • An understanding of contemporary privacy issues and an interest in emerging legal, technological, and regulatory developments that may impact privacy management and compliance.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as law, governance, public policy, risk management, information management, or a related field will be highly regarded but are not essential.
