SERP Recruitment is partnering with a leading global rail technology and engineering organisation to appoint a TMS System Principal Team Lead based in Brisbane.

Our client is an internationally recognised organisation specialising in railway signalling, train control, digital rail technology and integrated transport solutions. With an established global engineering capability and a significant presence in Australia, the organisation delivers sophisticated railway systems across major passenger, metro and freight networks.

This is an opportunity to join a business at the forefront of modern railway technology, contributing to the development and integration of complex, software-intensive train management solutions.

The organisation is seeking a technically accomplished rail systems professional who can provide leadership, strengthen client relationships and contribute to the long‑term development of its Australian engineering capability.

Importantly, this is a technical leadership position rather than a traditional project management or delivery‑focused role.

For the right individual, there is also a potential pathway into a Director‑level leadership position within the next 6–12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discussions relating to Train Management Systems and operational railway technologies.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand operational processes, requirements and technical challenges.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into detailed system and software specifications.
  • Develop, review and maintain technical requirements and systems documentation.
  • Support the integration of sophisticated train management technologies into existing railway infrastructure.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, software development and global R&D teams.
  • Provide technical guidance across systems integration, verification and validation.
  • Understand integration patterns, interfaces and the challenges of maintaining consistency across complex interconnected systems.
  • Identify and manage technical risks associated with legacy system integration.
  • Support multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to technical decision-making.

About You

We're interested in speaking with experienced rail systems professionals who have developed strong technical expertise across signalling, train control and complex operational railway environments.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A degree in Electrical, Electronic, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with railway signalling and operational train control systems.
  • Experience with CBTC, ETCS, TMS, ATS or similar technologies.
  • Strong systems engineering and integration experience.
  • Knowledge of complex, software‑intensive systems and their development lifecycles.
  • Experience in requirements management, technical specifications and systems documentation.
  • Understanding of railway safety standards, verification and validation processes.
  • Experience with system integration, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to provide technical guidance and leadership within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
  • Experience working directly with clients, operators, systems integrators and international engineering teams would be particularly advantageous.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Join a globally established organisation recognised for its railway technology and engineering expertise.
  • Work with sophisticated train control, signalling and digital railway systems.
  • Collaborate with international engineering, technology and R&D specialists.
  • Take ownership of technically challenging systems engineering activities.
  • Play an important role in strengthening long‑term client relationships and engineering capability in Australia.
  • Potential career progression into a Director‑level leadership position.

Candidates based interstate who would consider relocating to Brisbane are encouraged to apply.
