Serendia is looking for an Estimator who understands how buildings come together, asks the right questions and prepares prices delivery teams can rely on. Your contribution will extend from reviewing tender documents to helping the project team understand the estimate when a job is won. You will have direct access to management, support with tender reviews and the opportunity to improve how we estimate and plan our work.
Key responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, tender requirements and addenda to establish scope and identify gaps
- Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, trade packages and pricing schedules
- Obtain and follow up subcontractor and supplier quotations, checking inclusions, exclusions and scope coverage
- Work with project teams to understand construction methods, staging, access requirements and programme implications
- Build up preliminaries and allowances, clearly recording assumptions, qualifications and pricing risks
- Keep estimates current as tender information changes and support management through price reviews and submission
- Help hand over successful tenders so the delivery team understands the scope, budget and commitments behind the price
About you
- At least 3 years of estimating experience in commercial construction, fitout or refurbishment
- Sound construction knowledge and the ability to interpret drawings and specifications
- Confidence preparing take-offs, comparing quotations and identifying missing scope
- Professional communication skills and the persistence to obtain the information needed to complete an estimate
- Strong Excel skills and confidence using digital estimating and tendering tools
- An organised approach to deadlines, accurate record-keeping and a willingness to raise issues early
- Experience with government, Defence or occupied-site projects would be valuable
- Familiarity with Procore and EstimateOne would also be useful
