We are growing rapidly and will expand our staff by 30 in 2026. We are adding offices in Singapore and Tokyo within the next 2 months. As a major global data analytics company, we offer technical expertise and market research on metals, energy, steel, and mining. We have successfully implemented a management restructure and built a new leadership team.
In this role, you would be a copper spokesperson, attend conferences, and meet clients. You should have some global market knowledge of copper and an understanding of copper demand drivers. The role is to promote our position as a research house with a strong focus on Australia, Indonesia, China, Japan, Korea, and India. The role requires some travel, mostly in South East Asia, and would suit someone who enjoys working in a professional services firm. It would help to have experience with a mineral economics firm, engineering consultancy, producer, or banker. We offer high levels of autonomy, with close interaction with senior management in a comfortable environment. Candidates must possess 2 - 5 years of experience in the copper world.
What will the role look like?
- Deliver exceptional market data, analysis, and models to support our clients in the mining and metals industry.
- You would be supported by 2 analysts.
- Ensure the highest standards of quality for data, charts, and written content, continuously adapting to meet market demands and providing timely insights on significant market events.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses and produce detailed reports on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with other analysts to develop and maintain advanced models for supply, demand, pricing, and production costs.
- Engage in high-level information exchanges with knowledgeable clients and market participants.
About You
Naturally, you must have good analytical and communication skills, both oral and written. You should be interested in the energy transition, technical changes in copper production, and have an appreciation of mining, smelting, and demand-side economics.
Qualifications and Skills:
- An experienced Commodity Markets Analyst with good communication and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in mineral economics, engineering, geology, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Advanced written and verbal English skills, with strong presentation abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients and industry stakeholders.
- Proven track record of delivering innovative market analysis and commentary.
- Extensive experience and comfort in financial modelling.
- Strong interest in economic policy and its implications for the economy.
Because we build collaboration within our various teams, this role is mainly an "in-office" position, in Sydney CBD. There may be some workplace flexibility depending on our work schedule. Australian work authorisation is required for this position.
