About the role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Draftsperson/Designer to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of LV, MV, and HV projects, focusing on the design and drafting of electrical systems and switchboards. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver accurate, high-quality designs from concept through to project completion.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare electrical designs and detailed drawings for LV, MV, and HV systems and switchboards.
- Develop single-line diagrams, schematic drawings, general arrangements, and construction documentation.
- Manage project documentation and maintain accurate revision control.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to develop efficient and innovative design solutions.
- Liaise with clients and project teams regarding design reviews, approvals, and amendments.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning phases as required.
- Conduct design reviews and assist with inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications.
- Identify and resolve design issues through effective troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety.
About you
- Proven experience in electrical drafting and design within LV, MV, and/or HV power systems.
- Proven experience in electrical drafting and design of control panels (VSD Drives, PLC/SCADA, BMS, Motor controls).
- Proficiency with electrical design and drafting software (e.g. AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar).
- Strong understanding of Australian Standards and industry regulations relating to electrical systems and switchboards.
- Experience preparing technical drawings, schematics, and project documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and document control skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Practical problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Relevant electrical engineering, drafting, or related technical qualification.
