Landscape Gardener - Casual + Overtime + Super
SceneIt Gardens Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Gardener / Horticulturist to join our team on a casual basis, with opportunities for overtime and the potential to transition into a permanent full-time position for the right person.
This is a hands-on position working across Melbourne’s inner and eastern suburbs, maintaining and improving high-end residential gardens for our valued clients.
As a Qualified Gardener / Horticulturist, you will be involved in a variety of work including detailed garden maintenance, hedging and pruning, planting, lawn care, irrigation, garden improvements and general landscaping. You’ll be expected to work efficiently, take pride in the quality of your work and maintain a high standard of presentation across every property.
This role offers varied work across some of Melbourne’s beautiful residential gardens, with the opportunity to further develop your horticultural and landscaping skills as part of an experienced and growing team.
Key responsibilities
- Design and plan landscaping projects based on client requirements, site conditions, and aesthetic vision
- Install landscape features including gardens, pathways, paving, irrigation systems, and outdoor structures
- Perform garden maintenance tasks such as pruning, weeding, mulching, fertilising, and seasonal plantings
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools safely and effectively
- Prepare and maintain project sites, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met
- Liaise with clients to understand their needs and provide updates on project progress
- Source and select appropriate plants, materials, and supplies for landscaping projects
- Work collaboratively with other team members to meet project deadlines
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies on job sites
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Landscape Gardener or similar horticultural role within the gardening and landscaping industry
- Strong knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, and seasonal planting practices suitable for the Victorian climate
- Proficiency in landscape design principles and the ability to translate client ideas into practical designs
- Experience with landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, edgers, and irrigation systems
- Physical capability to perform demanding manual labour, including lifting, digging, and working in various weather conditions
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to attend job sites
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Current knowledge of local environmental and water conservation practices
- Relevant horticultural qualifications or certifications (preferred but not essential)
