Sapphire Recruitment is partnering with a successful and expanding international business to recruit a Group Tax Accountant for its Brisbane finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accountant looking to build their career in a technically interesting, commercially focused environment.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, you will oversee a Tax Accountant and work closely with the Group Tax Manager. In this key role, you will be responsible for coordinating the Group's taxation and statutory compliance obligations across Australia and multiple international jurisdictions.
With a diverse group structure and an expanding international footprint, the position offers exposure to complex tax matters, transfer pricing and ongoing improvements to the group's tax and compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate Australian income tax compliance, including information required for consolidated tax returns.
- Assist with monthly BAS/IAS preparation and oversee the annual FBT process.
- Coordinate international income tax, GST/VAT and other indirect tax obligations across overseas entities.
- Prepare and review quarterly group tax reporting packs.
- Liaise with external tax advisers, auditors and finance teams across the business.
- Maintain and enhance the group's taxation framework, including requirements arising from acquisitions.
- Support international tax planning, intercompany arrangements and transfer pricing documentation.
- Coordinate information for external and internal audits.
- Assist with other statutory obligations, including Payment Times Reporting, ESS reporting and Taxable Payments Annual Reports.
About You
- We are seeking an accountant with a strong technical foundation, excellent attention to detail and an interest in developing expertise across Australian and international taxation.
- Ideally, you will offer:
- A relevant accounting or business degree, with CA/ACCA/CPA qualification completed or underway.
- Proven relevant accounting experience, ideally gained in a commercial environment, professional practice or a combination of both.
- Exposure to corporate taxation, BAS, FBT or statutory compliance.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and reporting standards.
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with financial information across multiple entities.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to work independently and engage with stakeholders.
- Experience with international tax, transfer pricing or group tax reporting would be advantageous, although candidates with strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This position offers considerably more variety than a traditional tax compliance role.
You will gain exposure to an international group structure, work with experienced finance professionals and external advisers, and contribute to meaningful tax and compliance projects.
For someone seeking to broaden their technical knowledge while building a long-term career in commercial finance, this represents an attractive opportunity.
