Advanced Surgical Practice. Regional Leadership. Exceptional Clinical Impact.

Santé Recruitment is partnering with Central Queensland Health to identify a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This is a significant opportunity to advance your specialist career within a robust, interconnected regional network where your expertise will directly shape the future of women’s healthcare in Queensland.

Rockhampton Hospital acts as the major referral centre for this expansive region, providing a complex and rewarding environment. This service is designed for the specialist who thrives on clinical variety—balancing high-risk maternity care with advanced gynaecological surgery—while enjoying the professional satisfaction of leading a team in a well-supported, high-standard facility.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Sophisticated Clinical Infrastructure: Practice at the forefront of regional care, supported by over 1,200 births annually, a Level 4 Special Care Nursery, and Level 5 laparoscopic surgery capabilities.
  • True Clinical Breadth: Your week will encompass the full spectrum of practice: from high-risk maternity clinics and major gynaecological procedures (uro-gynaecology/colposcopy) to regular theatre lists 12–14 per fortnight and essential outreach services.
  • Academic & Mentorship Focus: As an RANZCOG-accredited training site, this role offers the privilege of shaping the next generation of specialists, registrars, and medical students.
  • Leadership Influence: Contribute significantly to clinical governance, departmental strategy, and the continuous improvement of women’s health services across the regional network.
  • Regional Lifestyle: Enjoy a rewarding career without sacrificing work-life balance. Central Queensland offers a unique lifestyle with excellent affordability, community warmth, and access to unique natural landscapes.

What you will bring to the service:

  • Expertise: Extensive experience in high-quality O&G service delivery, including the confident management of complex and emergency presentations.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork, spanning midwifery, anaesthetics, paediatrics, and community outreach teams.
  • Strategic Mindset: A proactive approach to clinical safety, research, and service development initiatives.

Exceptional Remuneration & Benefits:

  • Financial Strength: 12.75% employer superannuation contributions + Attraction and Retention Incentive Allowances.
  • Development Support: An industry-leading $22,145 annual professional development allowance plus 3.6 weeks of dedicated PD leave.
  • Flexibility: Opportunities for permanent part-time arrangements and generous salary packaging options (including 17.5% annual leave loading).
  • Allowances: Comprehensive motor vehicle and on-call/overtime allowances to support your clinical commitments.

Requirements:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), or recognized equivalent specialist qualifications.
  • Current Specialist registration with AHPRA, or full eligibility to obtain specialist registration.
