Vestibular Physiotherapist - Neurological Caseload
At Sakura Allied Health, life after brain injury is more than just ticking boxes. It’s about supporting people to rediscover their spark, build confidence and get back to the things, and the people, that they love.
We’re looking for an experienced Vestibular Physiotherapist to work with people experiencing dizziness, vertigo, balance and visual and/or perceptual difficulties following mild (concussion), moderate and severe acquired and traumatic brain injuries. You’ll be part of a close knit and highly experienced team providing clinic and community based Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Physiotherapy.
About Sakura Allied Health
We specialise in supporting people after acquired and traumatic brain injury and concussion, including people experiencing vestibular difficulties. We take time to listen to each person’s goals, interests and priorities. There’s no one size fits all approach; therapy is shaped around real life and what matters to the person.
Our services are delivered in our clinic in Wickham, at the client's home or in the community, depending on the client’s goals and what works best for them.
About the role
You will assess and provide individualised vestibular rehabilitation for clients with ABI and TBI, from concussion through to complex injuries and presentations. This may include:
- Assessing dizziness, vertigo, balance, gait and movement related or visual/perceptual symptoms. You will have access to a Vesticam for use in your assessments.
- Planning and delivering evidence informed vestibular rehabilitation.
- Assessment of and treatment for BPPV.
- Supporting people to build balance, mobility and confidence in everyday activities and community settings.
- Working with our vestibular trained OTs to support clients to manage movement sensitivity, busy environments (e.g. the supermarket), screen use, fatigue management etc.
- Working towards meaningful goals such as self care, cooking, returning to work, study, driving, hobbies and social activities.
- Explaining symptoms and rehabilitation approaches to clients, their families and support teams.
- Collaborating with Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, referrers and other health professionals.
- Experience working with icare - Lifetime Care, Workers Care and CTP Care – preferred but not essential.
- Reviewing progress, documenting outcomes and adapting therapy as the client’s needs and goals change.
- Providing comprehensive, evidence based reports to insurers.
About you
You’re an experienced physiotherapist with strong vestibular assessment and rehabilitation skills. You’re comfortable working with people whose needs may be complex and you value listening, collaboration and practical, person centred therapy.
You will have:
Tertiary Physiotherapy qualification and current AHPRA registration.
Demonstrated experience in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation.
The clinical reasoning skills to work with people following brain injury and other complex neurological injuries. Your approach should be flexible and creative.
A commitment to evidence based practice and ongoing learning.
Strong communication and collaborative working skills, alongside the ability to work independently.
A current Australian driver’s license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
You’ll be part of a team that is passionate about meeting people where they're at. We work together across Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology with a shared focus on working with clients to make progress in a way that fits their lives.
If you want to provide creative, individualised vestibular rehabilitation and help people reconnect with the activities and relationships that matter to them, we’d love to hear from you.
