About the Role

Based in Mackay, this role works closely with our District Office and more than 230 Sub Branches across Queensland, helping volunteer-led organisations access the guidance, resources and support they need to thrive. This is a highly relationship-focused role where you'll influence outcomes, build trusted partnerships and connect veterans and communities with the services they need. Regular regional travel is required, along with occasional after-hours attendance at community and veteran events, so flexibility is essential.

What you'll do

  • Support volunteer-led organisations to navigate local challenges and opportunities.
  • Connect veterans, families and communities with relevant services and support programs.
  • Influence positive outcomes through collaboration, community engagement and partnerships.
  • Prepare reports, manage budgets and coordinate competing priorities.

About you

You're an experienced relationship-builder who enjoys working with diverse stakeholders and can influence without direct authority. You thrive in community-focused environments, are comfortable working independently and are passionate about supporting those who serve others. We welcome applications from veterans, Reservists, military family members, and professionals from stakeholder engagement, community development, local government, membership organisations, not-for-profit organisations and veteran-support services.

Skills & Experience

  • ADF service, experience working with Defence personnel, or a strong understanding of the veteran community.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills including strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience supporting volunteers, community groups or member-based organisations.
  • Confidence working with reports, budgets and Microsoft Office programs.
  • A current Driver Licence and Working with Children Card (or ability to obtain one).
  • Flexibility to travel regularly throughout the region and occasionally work outside standard business hours.
