Role Description

We’re looking for an Associate to take a hands-on role in delivering Quantity Surveying services within our small Adelaide team. You’ll deliver pre-contract and post-contract services on building projects projects ranging from $5m to $50m.

The focus of this role is to service clients and deliver upon their project requirements, but you'll also have an opportunity to nurture client relationships and guide junior staff to assist in winning repeat work.

  • Taking ownership of QS commissions, agreeing scopes, deliverables and timeframes with clients and coordinating delivery.
  • Delivering cost estimates, cost plans, measurements and tender assessments.
  • Advising clients on the cost implications of design decisions, procurement options and project risks.
  • Delivering construction-stage cost management, including progress claim assessments, variation assessments, cost reporting and final cost forecasting.
  • Supporting proposals and identifying opportunities for future work, by improving existing client relationships.

Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you’ll need demonstrated experience delivering pre-contract and post-contract Quantity Surveying services on building projects.

You may already be an Associate or an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step into broader responsibility. Crucially, you’ll enjoy undertaking the detailed QS work yourself and remaining directly involved in project delivery.

  • Strong technical capability across measurement, estimating, cost planning, tender assessment and construction-stage cost management.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing progress claim assessments, variations, cost forecasts and final accounts.
  • The judgement to assess incomplete or conflicting information, explain assumptions and provide well-supported recommendations.
  • A thorough understanding of building construction, cost drivers and the contractual processes relevant to your advice.
  • The confidence to lead client meetings, communicate complex cost issues and manage challenging commercial discussions.
  • A commitment to maintaining client relationships and supporting repeat work through the quality of your service.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Economics or a related discipline.

What’s In It For You

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who wants Associate-level ownership and influence while staying closely connected to projects, clients and technical delivery.

  • The opportunity to take ownership of client commissions and contribute to the capability of our Adelaide QS team.
  • Access to projects across multiple sectors, supported by the expertise of the wider RPI business.
  • Support from our experienced leadership team as you develop your technical, client and team leadership capabilities.
  • A hybrid working environment, with high levels of autonomy and flexibility.
  • Ongoing career development and progression opportunities, including a tailored Professional Development Plan and a senior mentor.
  • A supportive management team that cares about you and prioritises staff development.
  • Access to events, activities and initiatives driven by our Health & Wellbeing and Diversity & Inclusion committees.

RPI supports a diverse and inclusive work environment as well as equal employment opportunities. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people living with a disability, and people of all ages, sexual orientations, nationalities, backgrounds, and cultures.
