About the role

We’re looking for a Registered Nurse with experience in medical equipment coordination, procurement or healthcare logistics to join our Global Health team.

You’ll help ensure medical equipment, supplies and medicines are sourced, prepared, stored and transported safely and efficiently to support RACS Global Health programmes and our partner countries.

Working closely with clinical volunteers, suppliers, logistics providers and in-country hospital partners, you’ll coordinate equipment requirements, manage shipping and customs documentation, track equipment movements and ensure equipment is tested, maintained and ready for deployment.

The role also includes responsibility as a designated Drugs and Poisons Officer for Global Health programmes.

You’ll coordinate the handling, storage, transport and record-keeping of medicines and poisons in line with relevant legislation and RACS policies, working within established clinical governance arrangements.

Other responsibilities include

  • Maintaining the medical equipment asset register and coordinating equipment storage, maintenance and refurbishment.
  • Sourcing equipment through purchasing, donations and partnership arrangements, ensuring value for money.
  • Maintaining accurate records, procedures, checklists and documentation.
  • Identifying and escalating risks relating to equipment availability, logistics and compliance.
  • Supporting deployment readiness checks and providing operational guidance to staff, volunteers and partners.
  • Reviewing processes and identifying practical ways to improve equipment procurement, storage and transportation.
  • This is an opportunity to use your nursing knowledge and organisational skills in an operational role that supports RACS Global Health programmes and the delivery of healthcare in partner countries.

This is a part-time role, 0.5 FTE with flexibility and hybrid working arrangements, the role is offered on a maximum term contract until the end of 2027.

About the team

You’ll be part of the RACS Global Health team within Operations and Partnerships, working closely with the Manager Global Health Program and receiving day-to-day supervision from the Medical Equipment Coordinator.

The team works with clinical volunteers, specialty coordinators, donors, suppliers and hospital partners to support Global Health programmes.

You’ll also work with colleagues across RACS, including Finance and Risk, to ensure equipment and medicines are managed responsibly and in line with organisational requirements.

The role involves working with both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, helping ensure equipment and supplies are ready when needed and that the processes supporting each deployment are well managed.

About you

You’re a Registered Nurse who enjoys the practical and organisational side of healthcare.

You’re comfortable managing detailed processes, coordinating logistics and maintaining accurate records, and you understand the importance of safety, compliance and clear communication when working with medical equipment and medicines.

You’ll bring

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse and eligibility to meet the requirements for appointment as a Drugs and Poisons Officer.
  • Demonstrated experience in the procurement and coordination of medical equipment, logistics or operational support within a healthcare or global health setting.
  • A strong understanding of compliance, documentation and risk management in a regulated environment.
  • Experience managing processes, workflows and information accurately.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, while understanding professional responsibilities and role boundaries.
  • A practical, collaborative approach and an interest in improving processes and ways of working.
  • You’re thorough, adaptable and comfortable taking responsibility for your work.

You can identify potential issues, follow established procedures and **escalate** clinical or regulatory matters when required.
