Speech Pathologist – Casual - variable hours approx. 1 shift per week initially approx. 4-6hrs (negotiable)
We are looking for a casual Speech Pathologist to join our friendly and supportive multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.
Our service includes a 15-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, as well as several day rehabilitation programs, providing a varied caseload and the opportunity to work across both inpatient, day rehabilitation and Mental Health settings.
The Speech Pathology caseload is shared with another experienced Speech Pathologist, providing support, collaboration and continuity for patients and families across the week.
The role will involve working across:
Inpatient rehabilitation, supporting patients with a range of neurological, orthopaedic and general rehabilitation needs
Day rehabilitation, including our Parkinson's program
Communication and swallowing assessment and management across rehab and mental health units
Supporting patients and families to optimise function, independence and participation throughout their rehabilitation journey
Our inpatient caseload includes patients recovering from Stroke/CVA, Parkinson's disease, Dementia and other progressive neurological conditions, falls and deconditioning, and orthopaedic injuries, as well as a range of complex medical and functional rehabilitation needs.
You'll be part of a diverse and collaborative MDT including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Dietitians and Allied Health Assistants, with a strong focus on patient-centred rehabilitation.
We are looking for someone who:
Is an appropriately qualified and experienced Speech Pathologist
Has an interest in rehabilitation and working with adults/older adults
Is confident working across communication and swallowing presentations
Enjoys working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Is able to work independently while also working closely with the other Speech Pathologist
Has strong communication and clinical reasoning skills
The position is casual, with approximately 1 shift per week, with potential to increase hours/shifts over time.

Mandatory qualifications and experience:
Degree in Speech Pathology
Current (less than 3 months) National Criminal History check (or agreement to obtain prior to commencing employment)
Experience working with inpatient and outpatients in a rehabilitation setting
Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
Experience working with a broad case mix including stroke and Parkinson's Disease
Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse clinical caseload

High level of organizational and time management skills
