About the role
As the Shift Allocator, you will coordinate closely with drivers and customers while maintaining accurate, up-to-date delivery information across our systems for both local and national teams. This position is suited to an experienced Transport Allocator who is confident managing high-volume fleet movements in a fast-paced transport environment, including coordinating day and night operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing daily fleet allocations, ensuring efficient utilisation of drivers and vehicles.
- Monitoring vehicle movements and proactively managing delays, breakdowns and operational disruptions.
- Coordinating driver workloads and ensuring delivery schedules are maintained.
- Managing handovers between shifts to ensure continuity of operations.
- Communicating operational changes and priorities to drivers, customers and internal stakeholders.
- Providing accurate and up-to-date information to our internal teams and clients.
- Reviewing driver paperwork, ensuring all required information is present.
- Collaborating with the Operations and Safety teams to uphold our top-tier compliance and safety standards.
To be successful in this role you'll have:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Transport Allocator role.
- Proven experience managing high-volume fleet movements and coordinating multiple drivers and vehicles simultaneously.
- Experience coordinating transport operations across both day and night shifts.
- Strong understanding of fleet utilisation, driver scheduling, delivery timeframes and transport logistics.
- Ability to make quick decisions, manage competing priorities and resolve operational issues as they arise. A high level of organisation and thoroughness, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to operate under pressure and deal with all types of people.
