Lead the agricultural arm of one of Australia's largest carbon-aligned managers and build and scale a cattle grazing and carbon projects business.
The Company:
Paniri Agricultural Co. works to balance agriculture and the environment and is a leading natural asset manager. They are dedicated to delivering sustainable agricultural production and supporting carbon projects. With an environmentally driven approach to agricultural production, starting with cattle and supported by carbon projects, they aim to improve soil, pastures, natural vegetation, ecosystems, and increase biodiversity while reducing emissions through Savannah Fire Management, Human Induced Regeneration, and Environmental Plantings.
As part of Corporate Carbon Group, Paniri Agricultural Co. combines experience in the carbon farming industry with leading agribusiness expertise to help reduce emissions at scale while improving agricultural production. They offer expertise in managing Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) delivery risks, navigating complex policy, legislation, and regulatory compliance.
With 1.3 million hectares under their care, they take a local-first and long-term view and recognise their responsibility to the land and local communities. Culturally, they are commercially focused, communicate respectfully but honestly, are open to feedback, and lean on data and facts.
The Opportunity:
In this people-oriented role, as the business continues to grow, it requires the expertise of a General Manager to oversee day-to-day agriculture assets, focusing on an ecological-first operating model that maximises farming productivity, sustainability, and efficiencies across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Leveraging your livestock farming and breeding knowledge, you will build on and grow their cattle grazing business while leveraging existing assets. You will develop a future strategy to execute the acquisition of additional assets while consolidating current ones.
Equally central to the role is Corporate Carbon’s and Paniri's carbon project portfolio. Their stations are managed not only for productive cattle output but for measurable environmental outcomes, ensuring grazing and carbon activities work in concert rather than in conflict. You will ensure that day-to-day station operations translate into credible carbon credit generation and that Paniri continues to navigate the regulatory landscape with confidence.
This hands-on yet strategic role works from the farm gate to boardroom, and if successful, you will be an important part of the organisation's success.
About You:
The business attracts pragmatic and common-sense staff who have an entrepreneurial spirit. The business is highly dynamic and in considerable growth, and you will be highly energetic and spirited, looking for an environment where you can make your mark by balancing risk and reward.
To be successful you will need:
- Affinity, passion, and vision for sustainable farming practices, ideally with exposure to the carbon industry and overall understanding of carbon methodologies.
- Deep experience in running cattle stations, leading, and developing operations staff, including managing relevant information to support cattle grazing and agricultural production.
- Adept at assessing and building commercial business cases that support key projects around agriculture, particularly cattle stations, herd modelling, and management.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive and design and deliver solutions that focus on the agricultural business and drive operational productivity.
- Ability and history of managing full finances of an agricultural business including budgets, P&L, procurement, and asset management.
- Experience presenting to Executive and/or Boards on commercial progress.
- Ideally, involvement with a start-up in your career aligning with Paniri’s enterprising spirit.
Why This Role:
This unique newly created role requires an enthusiastic individual who believes in sustainable agriculture and wants to assist the sector in moving towards new solutions for carbon market participation. You will bring your cattle production knowledge and strategic leadership to drive productivity and growth.
The role offers an excellent remuneration package combined with a positive and direct working environment. You can be located anywhere between Brisbane to Cairns.
