Lead, Influence, Drive Growth

Company Background

This is an opportunity to step into a key leadership role with an Australian-owned, privately held business supporting major projects across the mining and civil construction sectors. Partnering directly with the Managing Director, you’ll help drive commercial outcomes and support the continued growth of the business.

Our client provides equipment and associated services to project-based clients and has evolved over time into a broader, multi-service operation, known for dependable delivery, responsive support and long-term customer relationships.

The team is lean and hands-on, with a down-to-earth, owner-led culture and a reputation for moving quickly to meet client needs.

This is a genuine all-round finance leadership CFO role where you can influence decision-making, improve how things are done, and take ownership of more than just the numbers.

The Role

This is a broad, hands-on CFO role and will include but certainly not be limited to the following:

  • Full end-to-end ownership of the finance function
  • Lead a small finance team
  • Take ownership of the company's financial position, cash flow management, and reporting, whilst providing clear and practical insights to support decision-making
  • Work closely with the MD on business opportunities, tenders, contract reviews, commercial risks and strategic decisions
  • Manage funding arrangements, loans and equipment financing
  • Become a trusted business partner to stakeholders across the organisation
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, systems and processes as the business continues to grow
  • Contribute beyond traditional finance, supporting operational requirements and working through challenges and opportunities directly with the MD

Your Background

If you are keen to be considered for this CFO role, our client is particularly interested in candidates that have majority of the following:

  • Experience in a broad finance role in a small-to-medium-sized business
  • A background as a CFO, Financial Controller or a Senior Finance Manager who is ready to take the next step up
  • Strong commercial judgement and cash flow management capability
  • Experience supporting operational teams and contributing to business decisions beyond finance
  • The ability to lead a small team while remaining hands-on
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and the confidence to challenge constructively, influence stakeholders and take ownership
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to make financial information accessible to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Able to work or be willing to relocate to the Central West NSW region
