If you’ve walked past a standing desk lately, there’s a good chance it was a Desky. The Brisbane brand started in 2020 and now has more than 300,000 customers across Australia, the US, Canada and Europe. Getting every one of those desks from overseas suppliers to customers’ doors is the purchasing team’s job, and they’re looking for a Purchasing Officer to join them. If you’ve got a sharp eye for detail and like working with numbers, keep reading.
What you’re going to love:
- Learn purchasing and supply chain from an experienced team
- Variety across freight, quality checks, stock, new products and the website
- No corporate attire; this is a smart casual workplace
- Working from Desky’s signature sit-stand desks, and you can mix it up with a fit ball, balance board or walking pad if you’re keen to get your steps up
What you’ll be doing:
- Invoices and costs: You’ll review freight and warehouse invoices, pick up anything that doesn’t look right, and work with the freight partner until it’s resolved or credited.
- Quality control: Checking product photos from overseas manufacturers is part of the role, making sure everything meets Desky’s quality standards before it ships.
- Product issues: You’ll help manage defect claims with suppliers and get accurate product information back to the customer support team.
- Stock and pre-orders: You’ll keep the stock tracking sheets up to date, spot low stock early, and set up Shopify pre-orders so popular products don’t sell out.
- Reporting: Each month you’ll look over desk sales and competitor pricing, and share what’s changed and why.
- New products: When a new product launches, you’ll help get it set up in all systems and on the website.
What we’d love to see in your background:
- Experience in admin, logistics, retail operations or similar (purchasing experience is a bonus)
- Strong organisational skills and an analytical mind
- An analytical mind and confidence in Excel or Google Sheets
