About the Company
Located on the Northern Gold Coast, this specialist contractor delivers tailored mechanical and structural infrastructure solutions to clients across Australia and New Zealand. Its reputation rests on deep technical expertise, reliable project delivery and strong partnerships across the power generation, resources and broader industrial sectors. With continued growth and a strong pipeline of national projects, the business is expanding its team and is looking for a hands‑on Project Manager to lead delivery.
About the Role
You will take end-to-end responsibility for multiple concurrent mechanical, structural and SMP projects. The work is a mix of new construction valued at $1m–$7m and maintenance projects from $50k–$500k. The role is mostly office based, with planned site travel and the occasional reactive visit to solve problems on the ground. You will work closely with in‑house engineers, drafters, estimators, project controls and site supervisors. This is a true all‑rounder role with plenty of autonomy and the chance to shape how projects are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Own project delivery from award to handover, ensuring all requirements are met on time, on budget and to quality.
- Develop and manage project schedules in MS Project.
- Plan resources, materials and site crews so the team can respond quickly.
- Define engineering and drafting requirements and coordinate drawing packs.
- Manage budgets, forecasts and costs alongside project controls.
- Identify, price and negotiate variations and changes of scope.
- Raise quote requests, source suppliers and subcontractors, and manage procurement.
- Prepare project management plans, HSE plans, risk assessments, SWMS/JSEAs, ITPs and QA documentation.
- Act as the primary client contact, leading project meetings and progress reporting.
- Lead and support site supervisors and subcontractors.
About You
- 5+ years of project management experience in mechanical, structural or SMP construction or maintenance.
- Hands‑on site experience or a trade background is highly regarded.
- Proven experience managing variations under Lump Sum, Schedule of Rates or Cost Plus contracts.
- Strong working knowledge of HSEQ and QA documentation.
- Advanced Excel and MS Project skills; MYOB Advanced Construction and Inventor experience are a bonus.
- Ability to read drawings and work with technical information.
- Self‑starter who goes looking for answers rather than waiting for a procedure.
- Practical problem solver with common sense and a structured approach.
- Confident communicator with clients, engineers and site teams.
