About the Company

For more than 50 years, this respected Brisbane contractor has built its reputation on getting the numbers right and the relationships even better. From hospitals and schools to police stations and private commercial builds, they win work through precision, integrity and a real understanding of what makes a project succeed before construction starts.

“Building for generations” shows up in how they work: a personable, people-first approach with clients, subcontractors and the communities they build in.

Why This Team

People stay here. Average tenure runs well past industry norms, because leadership backs its people in practice, not just on paper. You’ll report to an experienced Estimating Manager and join a team culture built on mentoring, development and recognising good work, whether or not the project is won.

The Opportunity

As Senior Estimator, you’ll lead allocated tenders from expression of interest through to handover. You’ll coordinate the bid team, set the commercial strategy and act as the senior face of the business with clients and subcontractors.

You’ll also mentor and develop the estimating team, help shape the business’s benchmarking and processes, and work with the business development team to turn relationships into opportunities. It’s a role with real influence over which projects the business wins and how they’re set up for success.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading allocated tenders, including bid coordination, team management, submissions and presentations
  • Reviewing EOIs, RFPs, pre-qualifications and cost plans across all tendered projectsReviewing preliminaries, subcontractor quotes and scope inclusions, and identifying risks, opportunities and margin
  • Proposing alternative construction methods and non-conforming options that add value for the client
  • Reviewing contract conditions with the Estimating Manager and General Counsel, including liquidated damages (LDs), latent conditions and special conditions
  • Managing post-tender clarifications, reviewing final budgets and leading handover to project teams
  • Running market and competitor analysis, and keeping across procurement models
  • Mentoring estimators on commercial acumen, methodology and benchmarking
  • Building client and subcontractor relationships, and representing the business at industry events
  • Championing quality, safety and environmental standards in every tender

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years’ estimating or tender management experience in commercial construction
  • 2+ years in a leadership or mentoring role, formal or informal
  • Experience on government or social infrastructure projects (health, education, justice) is highly regarded
  • A tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Bluebeam; Buildsoft or Cube-iT is a plus
  • Strong buildability knowledge and the ability to solve design problems
  • Sound commercial acumen and a working knowledge of construction contracts
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship skills
  • A White Card and a current driver’s licence

What’s in It for You

  • A senior role with real influence over bid strategy and the work the business wins
  • A supportive Estimating Manager in a long-tenured, collaborative team
  • Variety across health, education, justice and private sector projects
  • Corporate health insurance discounts and an Employee Assistance Program for you and your family
  • A dedicated workplace wellbeing program
  • A newly renovated office with a fully equipped gym and staff lunches
