We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Electronics Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced electronic hardware for next-generation wearable and sensing technologies.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, focused on low-noise, low-power analogue and mixed-signal electronics, PCB development and the integration of electronic systems with advanced sensor technologies.
You will take ownership of hardware development from initial concept and prototyping through verification, validation and preparation for manufacturing.
Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will provide technical direction, contribute to design decisions and help establish robust engineering practices as the organisation continues to develop and scale its technology.
Responsibilities include
- Lead the design and development of advanced electronic measurement systems for compact, wearable and sensor-based devices.
- Design and optimise analogue front-end circuits, including signal conditioning, input protection, filtering and power management.
- Own schematic capture and PCB design across multilayer rigid, flexible and rigid-flex boards.
- Integrate analogue and digital sensors, microcontrollers, wireless connectivity and RF circuitry.
- Drive low-power, low-noise hardware design to achieve accurate and reliable measurement performance.
- Support product safety, EMC and regulatory compliance, including pre-compliance testing and certification.
- Develop test strategies, fixtures and automated test systems to validate hardware performance, reliability and sensitivity.
- Lead electrical verification, troubleshooting and board-level debugging.
- Provide technical guidance, design reviews and mentoring to other engineers.
- Work collaboratively with embedded software, firmware, AI and product engineering teams.
- Manage external technical relationships with suppliers, manufacturing partners and testing laboratories.
- Maintain robust engineering documentation and support the transition from development into production.
Essential experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years' industry experience in electronic hardware design and development.
- Strong hands-on experience in analogue and mixed-signal circuit design.
- Expertise in low-noise signal conditioning, component selection and circuit simulation.
- Demonstrated experience in multilayer PCB design, board bring-up and hardware debugging.
- Strong understanding of circuit behaviour, noise analysis, impedance measurement and signal integrity.
- Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, impedance analysers and other electronic test instruments.
- Experience taking electronic products through the full development lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to take ownership of technical outcomes and work effectively in a dynamic engineering environment.
Desirable experience
- 10+ years' experience in electronic hardware design or a PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with Altium Designer and Altium 365.
- Background in bioimpedance, physiological sensing, biomedical instrumentation or electrochemical measurement systems.
- Experience developing compact, battery-operated and low-power wearable electronics.
- Experience with wireless technologies.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, EMC and radio certification standards.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and product risk management.
- Experience with embedded firmware, scripting and automated test environments.
- Previous experience in a high-performing technology start-up or R&D environment.
The opportunity
This is an opportunity to join an innovative, deep-tech business developing advanced electronic and sensing solutions with real-world applications.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence hardware architecture, own complex engineering challenges and contribute directly to the development of products from early-stage design through to commercial production.
For an experienced electronics engineer who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with hands-on product development, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
