Overview

  • Executive leadership seat in a pre-eminent five-star, destination-of-choice hotel for international travellers, corporates, and high-profile events.
  • Broader remit than most: lead Finance plus IT/Information Systems and key governance processes, partnering closely with the GM and ownership stakeholders.

  • English/Mandarin fluency is essential to operate at the centre of ownership engagement and executive decision-making.

The Opportunity

Recruitment Labs has been retained to partner with an exceptional five-star luxury hotel in Auckland, part of a globally recognised premium hospitality brand with an international footprint. This is a flagship property: multi-faced, highly visible in-market, and designed to attract premium leisure, corporate, and VIP guests, with a full suite of facilities including multiple food & beverage venues and extensive functions/events capability.

You’ll step into a true 2IC role, working hand in hand with the GM while owning the full financial stewardship of the hotel, strengthening controls and disciplines, and continuing to elevate the finance function as a strategic commercial partner to the business. Alongside Finance, you’ll also lead the IT/IS function, ensuring systems are secure, optimised, and enabling operational excellence.

Role Profile

  • Lead end-to-end hotel finance: statutory and management reporting, budgeting/forecasting, cashflow, capital planning, payroll compliance and audit readiness.
  • Strengthen governance and internal controls, safeguarding hotel assets and ensuring disciplined balance sheet ownership (including fixed assets and inventory).
  • Oversee tax, compliance, key licences, contracts and insurances, coordinating with external advisors and auditors as required.
  • Lead IT/IS to ensure hotel systems are fully utilised, protected and continuously improved.
  • Provide visible leadership: develop a high-performing team, uplift capability, and drive a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement.

Successful Candidate Profile

  • Fluent bilingual communicator: English and Mandarin (written and spoken) is essential, with confidence engaging ownership and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven Director of Finance (or equivalent) experience within a five-star luxury hotel environment; international exposure highly regarded.
  • Strong governance mindset: controls-first leadership, audit readiness, and the ability to embed best-practice processes without slowing the operation.
  • Commercial operator: can partner across Rooms, F&B, Events and Spa to drive performance, not just report it.
  • Comfortable leading IT/IS (and working closely with operational leaders) to keep systems secure, stable and fit-for-purpose.
  • Collaborative, people-focused leader who develops talent and lifts standards through coaching and clarity.
